RECCO Reflectors Sept 2021

In Alaska, we now have an additional tool for finding people lost in the backcountry. It’s called the RECCO SAR Helicopter Detector. Several organizations have been using handheld RECCO devices for many years in the Last Frontier, but now we have a way to deploy that technology over much larger areas.

Nope. It's basically some copper and a diode. No battery or anything, it reflects a certain frequency back at the detector.
