Bit late to the conversation here. I was at the match and have memories as a Tranmere fan of Villa playing something like Queen's " We will rock you " over the tannoy during the last ten or so minutes of the game. Anyone remember that? Apparently it wasn't against any F.A. rules and it certainly worked. What a match.

Yeah I remember that Villa were on their last legs and were down and out and never looked like scoring..!! I've been to hundreds of matches and have never ever heard the PA System whipping up the Villa players and fans to give them encouragement and a 2nd wind..!! Fukn disgraceful, they should have been disqualified for blatantly taking the piss..Afterwards loads of people complained to the FA but coz they wanted a Villa v United Final nothing ever happened..!! I'll never forget that blatant cheating SCUMBAGS VILLA 🖕👊💪

I was at the game in the Tranmere End and 100% I'm telling the truth your PA System played Queen "We will rock you" over the speakers the last 10mins of normal time coz you needed a goal to take it to extra time, and you were out on your feet and never looked like scoring and we'd never heard a sound from the Villa until the PA got you going and the players..CHEATING BASTARDS

The same ref disallowed a prefectly good goal at Swindon in the Play Offs as well. I`ll die hating Alan Gunn. Those two decisions cost us a cup final against United and the very strong possibly of Premier League football. Had both been given our way we would not be in the deep brown stuff we are now.

Absolutely devastating..!! Was in the Away End sitting literally 10 rows up right behind the centre of the goal at the end where the penalty shoot-out was and Ged Brannan had the penalty to win the penalty shoot-out and take us the Final at Wembley to play United and he blazed it over the bar and then Villa went on to win the shoot-out..!! Me and my mates sat there afterwards and basically cried are eyes out for over half an hour..!! Fukn Heartbreaking 😢😢😢

what a game, bosnich had to go especially as john aldridge just didnt miss, 18 million for bent and i bet saunders was twice the player! TRFC forever

I was at this game with 3 friends... We started at the back of the Holte but there were just too many people and I was getting crushed when the first two goals went in it was going THAT crazy... We got separated into 2 groups of 2 in the chaos and after the Aldridge penalty went in I went with my friend Max to the front to escape the mayhem... You can see us both on camera in the break between normal-time and extra-time... When the final penalty was saved by Bosnich people were going crazy like animals trying to get on the pitch and the kid in front of me was being trampled... Eventually we also jumped onto the pitch and the Que Sera Sera song was blasting out and we ran up to about the half way line... Miraculously after the match we managed to find our friends again but I can't remember how!

Dallian Atkinson. My mum used to say that when Dalian spoke, he sounded uneducated. My answer to that was, he'll soon have the ball in the back of the net. Which was so true. Dalian Atkinson was one the best strikers ever. It's a shame that he is no longer with us. D

Try as I might I simply cannot find the footage from the season review of this year where Shaun Teale explains why he looked so worried after scoring the Villa's second goal. Let's just say that he wouldn't get away with an explanation like that in this day and age!

Villa were well Lucky to Get to Wembley Here! Could have been all so Different if Tranmere had taken the lead just before Villa's 1st or if the Freekick had been just an Inch to the Right!

Does the fact that Bosnich saved 3 penalties count as luck, but they didn`t and it wasn`t. And then they did, and then he fell over leading to that cross which went out. Then inches away from that tackle.

Villa were only the better side in the first ten minutes at prenton park,after that it was all tranmere.Let down by referees and the big club vs little club thing they always do.It wasn't even a free kick for the goal Villa scored at PP.We even took penalties better as all 5 of ours were at least on target while yours were saved by a keeper that should of gone,and by the way he wasn't even booked for that foul because he had a fake eye injury.After all these years you meh new post!

Was never a red card for Bozza. Correct decision. God, I think it was, had made the ground up and Aldo was going away from goal, so it wasn't 'clear' and he wasn't the last man. UTV!

Any one can see Aldo would have slotted that into the net. Bloody spineless ref bottled it in front of 30odd thousand dick heads. Ah well. At least Bradford didn't get robbed and with a bit of luck Rovers will be playing this once 'big' club in the championship next season.
