Incredibly dangerous leaning over these machines, and especially reaching in. I worked at a saw mill in N. California that had a "Hog" that ate entire logs in 10 seconds. One maintenance worker was working on it alone one day. No one saw how it happened, but the biggest piece they found was around 3" piece of his plastic hardhat.

As I saw that, I said "Damn, he has enormous balls." lmao. But this is one of those things where the only room for error is in the human. This machine isn't one where it's that sort of problem if it malfunctions, since it just sits there and spins. The only way injury can happen is shrapnel (you're an idiot if you stand close to it in the first place) or if you trip or something and end up in the machine. Grabbing/moving something in it is only a risk if you're clumsy.

OK, so technically not clickbait, we did get to see that train rail sitting in a shredder like the thumbnail, but that little thing would never eat that rail, especially the hardened running surface. Heh, I doubt it would even get a full spin in before choking, need a much bigger toothed beast to much on that stuff. That ginormous one near the end though, I'd love to see them toss a sledgehammer into that one. Not up close though, stuff would likely be flying like buckshot.

I like how almost anything that’s too strong for it to shred just doesn’t get grabbed by the teeth. I do worry about them reaching too far into it, and also throwing springs and brittle stuff that’s shattering and flying out the top.
