As a psychiatrist, there's so much to unpack with a character like August, from obsessive compulsion and body dysmorphia (as you guys have mentioned) and personality disorders. But we're going to leave that be because I'm here for Simon and Wille. You can see how much Wille struggles with his need to keep up appearances and be a member of the royal family, and when his guards are down, it's always back to Simon and I hope their journey leads to a positive one (I've see the rest of the season, that's more for you to need to continue to watch). In true dramatic form, every good thing is always coupled with something that is just 10x worse and the uncertainty of whether the worse scenario will happen is constantly looming. I love that you two verbalize that "fear" and anticipation and still champion what a strong and natural relationship they are forming!

Just for fun, I thought I would add to the gloom (no spoilers, part of the first four episodes). Ivar Forsling, who plays Prince Erik (who you think is the most handsome in the show and I don't agree) has reported in an interview, that there is a deleted scene. The snow-globe belonged to Erik as a gift from his Grandmother and Wilhelm loved it as a small boy. Erik gives it to Wilhelm just before they leave for Hillerska in episode one as a keep sake. So whenever Wilhelm looks at it, it is a remembrance of his brother.

im fully a simon protector. im gonna defend him here and say a couple things. 1. him snapping at august in the last episode was totally totally valid. if you keep treating someone like a piece of garbage and keep bullying them, at some point they are gonna snap. ofc he could have handled it better, but he tried and this was probably the last resort he thought he had. he had to pay back both his father and the school. 2. the whole simon and his dad situation in this episode, again with all we know from what sara has said micke has been an addict and a shit father to them. simon came and saw him passed out again, the drugs were probably not recreational. you can see the guilt on micke's face as soon as simon says "you'll use anything to get high" meaning he was definitely right.

@sbashkatova Жыл бұрын
But seeing Wille strung out is also familiar because Simon already experienced this with his father, so while scary, it also feels familiar, like home. Some people grow up without indoor plumbing or in areas prone to wildfires, and while rationally those things are not favorable, they may not be a red flag and a deal breaker for somebody whose childhood included that. I don’t think drug use is attractive to Simon, but it may still be a magnet of something that feels like home. In fact, Wille’s whole hot and cold behavior is similar to an addicted parent behavior, so that too may feel like home. Again, not the main reasons for attraction, but just not a deal breaker like it would be with someone who is raised in a more emotionally secure family.
@JustWandering2 жыл бұрын
I love you guys! I’d also look a little closer at Simon’s relationship with his dad; he had way more drugs than you would need just to manage ADHD, is still getting passed out drunk, and got physical with Simon as soon as he was angry. I don’t think Simon is being unfair to him at all.

As you said, Wilhelm feels safe with Simon and that gets viciously ripped away from him through that video! 😩 His safe space invaded by his own family, his cousin August 😩 Wilhelm's family not giving him any safe space is kind of symbolic though. His cousin and his fake "friends" just abandoned him and left him all alone in his most vulnerable condition, knowing that the bodyguard infront of the door thinks he's in his room sleeping, because they sneaked him out through the window.

I rewatched the show multiple times to catch the filming details (i am into film making) and had the same reaction again and again at the end of ep 4. Such a punch in the gut everytime. They were having a beautiful experience and... August is full of crap. He is a great character to be in a show, perfectly nuanced and portrayed by wonderful actor Malte Gardinger. We love to hate him, and hate him so so much... my most hated character in a show actually. The intimate scenes with Wilhelm and Simon is the best I have seen so far. It is top tier! They have an amazing intimacy coordinator, Sara Arrhusius. And the actors, Edvin and Omar, as Wilhelm and Simon are on fire together. They have such a natural burning chemistry. You totally get invested in their pure teenage love, and regardless of sexual orientation, you feel what you felt for your first love again when watching them interact. @@GirlLovesFairytale not to say more teen but less intense I can say. Because the storyline is totally different. But I actually meant, as much as Henrik and Tarjei has a chemistry, Edvin and Omar has 10x chemistry than them. Edvin and Omar as Wilhelm and Simon are on fire together. Their glances, kisses, touches and other interactions are filled with burning desire. They are very electric together. It is so natural, does not have a formula. Rojda, the director, said that the chemistry was just there from the beginning. I have seen so many movies, series regardless of sexual orientation, and very few of them have this level of chemistry. Even most of real life couples does not have this kind of chemistry. Edvin and Omar have this even off-screen. It blows my mind. It is really interesting.

One thing that I like a lot from this show is that it shows flawed characters, there is no one like the perfect person who does or try to do everything right. All of them have lights and darks, just like in real life. Even Wilhem and Simon have very questionable behaviours sometimes, but I think that you can see where they come from specially if you have passed from something similar. I agree that Simon could manage be more emphatic with his father and responsible with the drugs, but he is in a very difficult situation. I don't think that make him a bad character, but a more realistic one, because he is just a teenager dealing with financial problems and have a drug addict as a father. Also he have some sweet and "redemable" moments that make you love him, at least for me. Then there's August, he is just dark, but at least he has a complex story too.

Yes I feel August is obsessive with his body and with anything else. They treat health issues in the show, as obsessiveness with August, anxiety with Wille, addiction with Mike, Asperger with Sara..... I feel this episode is clearer on the main theme the writer exposed : "How a restricted person can love freely?" . In the show the person is restricted by his royal status. In other cases, people are not allowed to love for cultural reasons or else. The show moves people specially in restricted country for queer people, who recognized themself in this restriction, to not be allowed to love. You are right Wille doesn't talk a lot about his emotions. We are lucky Edvin 'the actor) is very expressive. I feel August sees Sara as an ally. I agree Simon has a shady behavior: selling drugs to resolve money issues....no way! I find the Wilmon intimate moment very moving from purity and awkwardness of new lovers. I love your thought about Wille being safe with Simon. You understand the emotion the show brings to viewer....higher and higher emotion. Get ready to increase emotion until the end. It is addictive right. "I can't walk away but I don't want still watch it, I am stressed" well said. Nb: It was Pride week last week in Sweden. You "loop" pause was crazy fun. I love all your stuff. you guys need to watch and react to the Australian film holding the man. based on a book of the same name that was based on a true story about a gay couple in the early 80's

I literally looked up how the Sweden royal family works. It says that the monarchy ends when there in no blood related of the original king unless Parliament acts. So they can’t adopt

In real life, Sweden has said that the future crown Princess can marry who she wants. When it comes to having a child, they will look into that if it happends and are open to adoption, a donor etc.

That happened in October 2021 though, after Young Royals' first season was filmed and released (1st July 2021) so the show's creators didn't know that at this point.

@@gerganakantcheva8176 yes, I know. I’d like to think YR was the reason this was discussed.
