I actually think that they compliment each other just the way they both are. I wouldn't add the glue leaf to the black background canvas. It is absolutely stunning without it.

I’d use a light brown glaze of paint for the background. That way it doesn’t kill the color in the background, but pushes it back so that the leaf is the focal point.

I Really love them both...I can't decide 😉! I think I'll have to try them both😁. I just finished my Tree of Life in polymer clay. Now I have to figure out how I'm going to get it in the oven. It's huge...about 16×16 inches. And I still have to paint a background for it. Too bad all life's delemas were this fun! Thanks for always inspiring me, AB! Absolutely ❤❤❤ this technique. Thing is I had just bought a bunch of glitter glue sticks for doing almost the same thing. How neat you posted this. It was the removing it part I was hesitant on and hoping I wouldn’t break any glue parts. This is gorgeous. 🥰. A good project for the grandkids to try too. 💕🥰💕 I love both versions but the black looks so fantastic I think that’s my fav.

Your pieces are so beautiful & just stunning. I prefer the leaf with the colorful background & the painted shadow. That one really pops. The one on the black background is great too but it is just too... kind of "back & white" for my taste. I wish I could afford to buy some of your art. I'm going to possibly try something similar maybe though & pray that it comes out good or at least presentable. Plz wish me luck. I WILL DEFINITELY NEED IT!! 💕😁💕

Who’s your beautiful fall colors and I loved outline of your leaf. I would like to give this a try myself. I have been experimenting myself with some new areas of my art just to challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone. I think those pictures are equally beautiful, and it would be very hard to choose one over the other. I will say this that in one of my art classes many years ago, we did a lesson and the value of black background versus white and black background always intensifies color so when you look at the leaf with the black background it seems to be more brilliant in its color, even though if you win, it most likely is equal in its intensity.(meaning the color of the Leaf). I’m really glad you found my channel and enjoy the process ❤️ really is a great lesson about the background colours - I often think about the emotional differences you feel looking at a lighter piece or darker and it’s just wonderful to think of all the different ways we can change our perception of something. The leaf stays the same but what’s around it affects how we see it! It’s why I always focus on the little details, they have more of an effect than we may initially realise. They are both stunning, I would have both, I wasn't sure about the red but that faded nicely into the background, then I wasn't sure about shadow all the way round however its beautiful and the black canvas is stunning in its own right.
