Talk about confidence. Watching your VXR turbo install and this cambelt install videos gave me to confidence to fix my ZLET haha! stripped to pieces. Head off etc. Changed to gasket and now in process of putting it back together. Without these videos i wouldn't have dared to attempt it. Thanks alot man :)

I tell you what buddy. You are a true godsend. Thank you so much for taking the time to show us not so mechanically inclined people that we can do some things ourselves or at the least know what it is that we are getting charged for from our local mechanics so they don't treat us like chumps. Your a true gentlemen. From Sabstar in the land down under. Thnx

Wow! What a quality video! I thought it was ripped off from a bought one, and I am amazed it was not done by a professional video team. Almost every camera shot was very clear - and that is no easy task! I would definitely buy videos like this if I had to. (Maybe $5 or so) Found it just in time to do my Holden Vectra 2.2, which is pretty similar. Thanks!

People ask me why a timing belt cost so much to change. This should answer why it so much to change. You make it look so easy, which it is..... If you have the right tools and, knowledge and the time to do it. Doing it myself took the better part of a day on my Jetta. I made the mistake of not changing the water pump and I wasted another part of the day 6 months later changing the water pump and the timing belt again.

mark the old belt and gears with distinct white out marks for each pulley and a direction arrow...place the old belt next to the new belt and copy the marks making triple sure the same number of teeth between markings ....slip new belt on and line up the white out marks on the belt to the teeth on the gears....as well as the factory timing marks being in place you cant go wrong.
@majidalgharebawi214012 жыл бұрын
thank you for your reply, I got the belt on , it turned out to be I had to leave one of the pullies out and the tensioner loose , then fit the pulley and tension after . it worked and I go every thing to a 2mm tolerance. But the car turns and it wont start. I took a plug out it was wet with petrol.don't know what to do next may do compression test.

Hi chrispix, thanks for this awsome video :) I have an Astra 1.6 (Z16XE) where im about to change the Timingbelt. And one questions came to my mind when watching your video: @ 1:15 when lining up timing marks to TDC, will the marks on the crankshaft pulley always be in alignment if your camshaft spockets are aligned first? (or is there an individual alignment just for the crankshaft pulley)

Great video. I have just done a cambelt change on a corsa 1.8 sri, It now has a timing issue or misfire! Im hoing you can give me some advice. I think I made a mistake when undoing the crankshaft pulley bolt. I had the engine at TDC and all timing marks aligned correctly. I had no one around to put there foot on the break and select top gear so I used a flat blade screwdriver to lock the flywheel when undoing the crankshaft pulley bolt. It seemed to work but then I noticed the camshaft >>>>>
@chrispix13 жыл бұрын
@hansjlachmann Hey Mate, because the camshaft pulleys are attached to the crankshaft with the timing belt, all the marks will line up when you turn the crankshaft.

Dear sir i am trying to replace a cam belt to my Zafira 1.6 year 2000, I took the old belt and got a similar one, but when I came to fit it it is not enough to go round all the pullies even when the tensioner is completely loose. I even counted the ridges are the same any ideas.

Can you tell me what height your trolley jack goes to? It seems you need to raise it almost to the top of its travel to do the job, and i want to buy one thats big enough.

hi chris, how do you know which way the pump should be lined up? or doesn't it matter? thx.
@chrispix8 жыл бұрын
The location piece on the pump should be pointing approximately 45 degrees upwards to the left. It's been a while since I did this again, but I think there is mouldings in the plastic that it should line up with. Check part two of this video, there is an illustration of the torque settings that also shows the pump alignment.

What was the stuff you used on the water pump to seal it?

@Richard25000 It's a sensor silicone based sealant. You don't have to use anything but I'm fussy :)

I dont understand the point of your videos. Yes I get you speed them up because it can get boring watching the slow parts. But this is way way too fast, the important parts are 150mph. Pointless video.
