Thank you, sir! I was messing around with different voices that I've done over the years with the kids and decided to go this route lol

This is the first PAA brush I’ve been really excited about. I love 22mm brushes and I can’t wait to get this one in the mail and start using it!

I'm in for sure! The Solar Flare is my favorite and I am glad to see PAA migrate away from the bigger knots (the last couple have been 26") to something smaller which for me (YMMV I know) is better. Can't wait until they are in stock here in Canada. Meantime I will have something to look forward to as I shovel my driveway for the third time today! Thanks and enjoy the NFL today.

Hello Tobin! I thought I had posted this message but I must not have! 😄 I was just dropping by to say thanks as I have started collecting the PAA brushes due to your other video where you done a full review and analysis on the full PAA collection prior to the release of the Astraeus. 😊 The video was fantastic.. it has been a great help, I like how extensive and thorough the explanations were. Well, I got myself the Star Craft and I loved it so I went ahead and ordered some more. I'm currently waiting on The Doppler and I think I may order some more tonight. I'll probably get them all eventually. You are right they are some amazing brushes.. especially for the money. I have spent much more on brushes that weren't half as good as these PAA ones. I might try this new Astraeus as well. I am a big fan of your channel. I am surprised you don't have more subs but I am sure you will in time. I have been a lurker watcher for some time but just finally logged in and subscribed. I too am somewhat of a "shnerd" and really love the wetshaving hobby! I have quite a few soap and splash sets, nothing crazy like some collectors, but still I probably have around 50 sets now (last count was 36 sets and I've bought at least 10-15 sets since then) I mostly love Barrister and Mann, Noble Otter and Southern Witchcrafts.. those are my "big three". As for brushes, I only had about four or five! I only ever use synthetics basically for both the fact I just feel a bit icky using animal hair, I can't even explain it! Plus, I heard some people say they can get somewhat of a "wet dog" smell (I think I recall this from my Father's brush when I was a child) and also I avoid for ethical reasons too since I saw some articles on the farms in China where and it was disturbing. But that is just my personal view I don't lecture others. But yeah, I feel nowadays the synthetics are becoming so good I really have no need for badger anyways so I just stick with them! I recently purchased a Rex Ambassador which I really love.. much more than I thought I would, so it has put the brakes on my razor shopping lately. I know you are a fan of all things shaving including vintage. I love the vintage stuff also. I do have some vintage Gillette that I got replated but I have mostly old vintage straight razors from around late 1800s/early 1900s Germany, England and Sweden. Do you ever use the straight razor? I can't recall any video of yours with a straight, maybe there are but I've forgotten. Honestly, I much prefer to shave with DE razor myself though. It's just so easy to change a blade with DE.. ten or twenty cents for a brand new edge.. perfect each time, with no honing, stropping etc. Thanks so much for your videos they are always a great help and pleasure to watch. Wetshaving can be a lonely hobby outside the internet! Not like golf or whatever where you chat with fellow enthusiasts! So it is always appreciated to see the videos! You have some great interests which are very similar to my own and a beautiful family who are a credit to you. I thought you were about my age then I heard you say you were Gen X so you must be a little older than me. I was born in '88 so I am a mid millennial. It's funny, you remind me a lot of my Father's best friend. You look very much like him. So it sometimes feels like he is in the video talking about wetshaving! 🤭 Only he has a very different voice and no beard! 🙂 Best wishes and thanks!

Hey! Thank you!!! I read this message shortly after you posted it and I meant to respond. I imagine by now the Doppler arrived how do you like it? I have the Envoy and Konsul and love them both. The Envoy is the Ambassador on setting 3 essentially. I got into straights for a bit a few years back but gave it up. I'm a "baby" Gen X, born in 77 so I'm among the younger ones. That's funny about your dad's friend, you should send him a link to one of my videos 😊😅. Thanks for messaging, you've made my day! It means a lot to know that the effort that I put into these is genuinely appreciated by others. I love doing these! P.S I'm awaiting the newest PAA brush now. 🎉🎉 Have a great weekend!

Hey T. Thanks for the review. I’ve been enjoying smaller brushes lately, 24mm usually being the sweet spot. I’m sure I’ll end up getting one of these eventually, even though I don’t love the handle. As with all his brushes, the quality is spectacular for the price. Have a fantastic day!

Thanks, Eric! Anything over 26 is too much for me, I've had a couple 28s that were OK but for the most part 26 is about as big as I want to go.

Thank you! In some ways yes sir. Better heat and water retention. Also feels a little more natural. It's amazing! Loving these fibers!

Great video! How does the knot compare to the Roswell Grey in your opinion? I love 26mm knots and was thinking of getting the Phantom Aerolite, but I'm intrigued by the new fibers of this one. Thanks!
@Tobins_throwbacks Жыл бұрын
Hey Jeremy, thank you! Since making this video I've used this brush a BUNCH and I LOVE IT. Not sure if you have seen my introduction to Phoenix Shaving's brushes video, if not in short I also love the Roswell. The biggest difference that I notice is that this one retains water and heat slightly better than the Roswell and feels more natural at the same time on the face. And I really like the classic old-school and masculine look of this brush. The Phantom Aerolite is also one of my favorite brushes but just to be clear that does have the same fibers as the Roswell Grey, just a different color and a larger knot. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the brushes from PAA. I'll add a link in the next comment to that brush video just in case you missed it. Have a good one!
@@Tobins_throwbacks thank you so much for the reply. I have seen you talk about the Roswell Grey in other videos where you called it one of the best synthetics on the market. I was just wondering if you think this one tops it. I really appreciate the time you put into your videos!

7:16 quality control of PAA I'm sorry to say but is a joke! I have 3 brushes and one razor from PAA and the razor and 2 brushes have defects. Razor base plate is full of bubbles and spots and 2 brushes Aerolite and Doppler the knots are glued crooked (misaligned). So 3 out of 4 purchases had issue that means 75% !! And the thing is that are issues that you can easily spot them even when packing so I don't know what quality control PAA talking about.
@Tobins_throwbacks Жыл бұрын
Damn, that sucks bro! Did you contact them with any of them and send them photos? I haven't noticed anything like that with my gear, but if I did I know I would contact them ASAP Curious, what razor is it?
@_Dimitris Жыл бұрын
I did for the razor not the brushes.The razor by the way is the Ascension. I asked if I can send them the head and send me back a replacement but they said all of them are like that so if I'm not happy with the existing head the other ones are the same. They did offer me full refund and postage option cos I live in UK but I decide to keep it cos it shaves very well. The brushes I contacted the store in UK and told them about the issue but they didn't reply. I didn't contact PAA cos to send the brush to US it will cost me more than the price that I bought the brush about £25 British pounds. The Solar Flare is ok though no issues.

I thought this brush would be a bit smaller than what it is wich is y i didnt order it! I feel all of PPA brushes are too big and long on the knots wish they made atleast One like Simpson T2 size that size is my favorite theres no need for so much brush unless u shaving your head! I have like 4 different PPA brushes but they're all to big i need a smaller one.
@Tobins_throwbacks Жыл бұрын
👍👍I agree about the sizes, not sure if you've seen my "top" badger or "top" synthetic brush videos but I touch on this a little in both. For practical uses the not on the Astraeus is as about as big as I ever need. I do like a variety of handle sizes, but when it comes to knots a 24mm with a 45mm to 50mm loft is all I really need. I love my T2 btw! Have a good one and thanks brother!
