I saved this song in my KZbin library more than ten years ago. This was our techno (EDM) anthem a long time ago, It still to this day brings a smile to my face.

Anyone knows for sure what synth is used for the lead? This filter 2:22 for instance, hard to explain, but that filter I've heard in other trance production from early 2000's. NOSTALGIA! A such a huge and beautiful track, I rate it 10 out of 10. I produce music and I'm very picky, and it's below ten tracks in the world I give 10 to this far in life. A true and huge masterpiece, to say the least.

+Luciano Drossi I agree with you on all points! The lead melody is among the best I've heard in all Trance and Psytrance I've listened over the years. I saw them live in 2001 but sadly not knowing this song at the time I can't remember exactly if they played it or not...

+Luciano Drossi The lead sound you are referring to at around the 2:22 mark is called a "supersaw." To be precise, it's a patch, not a filter. The filter is what filters out particular frequencies, and is a function of the synth, and only one aspect of the patch. The oscillator (in this case, a saw wave) is passed through a filter, (in this case, a lowpass filter) which then can shape the sound based on how it allows frequencies to pass through to the amplifier. In the case of trance, typically the filter will start low and slowly rise. For the supersaw sound, it is typically achieved by layering and detuning many voices using saw wave oscillators. However, if you are looking for that particular sound, the Roland JP-8000 is particularly famous for it's supersaw sound. Check out some videos by typing "JP8000 Supersaw" into your search bar. It's one of the biggest and most influential trance sounds from this style of trance in the 90's and early 2000's. It's a staple of the uplifting trance sound, for sure. You can easily replicate this sound with a VST, though it is quite possible that they are using hardware here. I don't know anything about Trilithon, but I know AP has/had a very extensive studio full of a ridiculous number of hardware synths. There are a lot of great tutorials on KZbin for how to create a supersaw patch and it's very easy to do. Hope this helped a little. Good luck.

+Dylan Satterfield I don't get this filter effect with my Roland JP8080 nor Access Virus C. This "turbolent" filter is something I've heard a lot in trance from early 2000's, I just don't know what it is. As early as in 2000's, computers were so slow that I believe it's mostly hardware, sometimes everything except MIDI and automation. I got from my JP8080 fatter sounds than those on KZbin, in fact I get sounds of my loved JP8080 that I never had heard anywhere in electronic music. This filter is still a mystery, I believe they use a JP8080 with added external filters, because this filter sound is not possible with JP8080. If it is, I would pay that person give me a Skype-lesson about it, and I pay good! I also have the synths Yamaha CS6R with PLG-150AN, Novation K-Station and X-Station, Nord Rack 2, Novation Super Basstation, Access Virus C, Waldorf Q Rack. None of them can create this turbolent filter effect, but Supersaw easy. The Jews have often very expensive studio setup, that's why they often were best or among the best in the world in many trance subgenres. They are musically skilfull also, so I am impressed both technically and musically. This track is the best trance track ever made, and a flagship for music from Israel.

+Luciano Drossi Ah, my apologies, I misunderstood your question. Obviously, you are well aware of the supersaw sound. I am not familiar with the "turbolent" filter you are referencing, so I'm not sure I can help there. You are talking about the filtering on the supersaw lead, yes? Are you referring to the movement of the filter? It sounds like it is either tweaked by hand or an LFO is running on it to give it some motion. Your JP-8080 is obviously very capable of the lead sound, however, I am not familiar enough with it's filter to comment myself. It could very well be an external filter. You might see if you can find a gear list for AP and Trilithon. I know I saw a gear list for AP somewhere around the internet in the past. It was a very extensive list, so there may be some external filters in there that you could look into. Either way, if I hear anything about a "turbolent filter," I will let you know what I find out. Good luck on your search. I know the feeling of wanting to know exactly which piece of gear created a sound. It can be maddening!
