KZbin has enabled me to become a huge fan of James Last,as I continue to discover new and amazing performances almost nightly. My first James Last album was "American Patrol" purchased while stationed in Saigon in 1967 during the tragic and unnecessary war in Vietnam.

Danke, danke - from Germay, thank your very very much for this spectaculare video. Hansis early fresh sound with Robert Last on drums - swings along, Günter Platzek typical pianosound and all the other musicians at this time. They played with Kai Warner too in these swingin' years 1968/69! More please!

James Last was a genius musician. A mastermind - like a wizard made musical reconstructions with the bands. The instrumental arrangement productions and multi-colored melodies played by the Orchestra are eternally remembered master pieces. I listen to James Last's everlasting music almost every day and I love it. Malka Smith 26/11/2017

Special mention should be made of the trumpeter on the far right: Manfred Moch, who was also the trumpet soloist for Bert Kaempfert during his most successful period in the 60s.

As a James Last fan from the '80s (although I grew up with his songs in the '70s), I'm always interested in older footage such as this. I note that the mainstay trumpet players (of the '80s & beyond) weren't around at this time, but both saxophone players - very much younger men(!) - were there, which is heartening.............

What's interesting is that the great guitarist Ladi Geisler is in the band for this concert - he plays the solo on Albatross. He was not a member of the Last band, but was an active Hamburg studio musician like the others in the band, most notably as bass guitarist for Bert Kaempfert.

James last in the 60s was phenomenonal - how many albums can I name - non stop dancing, Hammond a gogo, trumpet a go go, humba humba a gogo, Sax a gogo, piano a gogo, guitar a gogo, happy lehar, that's life, games that lovers play, instrumentals forever, non stop evergreens, beat in sweet, achon Von Thareau, classics up to date. of course all these titles had various volumes as well that continues into the 70s but In my view the 60s was where he was at his best with that uplifting happy sound
