I feel like this song has a somewhat deeper meaning. I felt like it was a pretty chill song until I kept hearing her say that she wished it did hurt her. When times are good, they’re good, and it’s okay to appreciate and miss those moments. But they lived together for three years and like she says, she learned patience and I’m sure the hard times were HARD. Listening to this, I feel like she’s saying she’s already been through it. She wishes she could still feel sad and hurt but she just doesn’t anymore. Like a lot of people say, women often check out of relationships before they’re even over. So it’s almost an even sadder song than it first presents. She wishes she can go through the stages of heartbreak but she has most likely already been through it during the relationship. This song hits home. “It’s the way it doesnt hurt when I wish it did” My ex kept taking me for granted and emotionally& verbally (rarely also physically) abused me. Would also body shame me (despite my BMI being normal. I’m not even fat). He would show up to our dates more than 3 hours late. Despite being a VERY Busy person, I was always the one who would try to set dates since he wont even bother. Gave him my best effort for 7 years and he knows that. I just got tired. He broke up with me because “I was too busy and didnt have time for him” and I said ok. He didn’t expect me to agree. He begged me to come back but I didn’t want to anymore. I guess the point just came when I got burnt out and felt nothing anymore... I had always imagined we’d break up, and I’d cry relentlessly. But I didn’t feel sad at all. I still feel thankful to have known him. I don’t hate him. I in fact still love him, but not in a romantic way. I have seen his good qualities, and I believe he could mature into a better man. I hope he takes this time to better himself so he can treat his future girl better. And when he has done his share of growing, I hope he finds a good gf who’d love him better than I ever have.
