I 1000% support that choice. Im a gamer and I know the difference. I know what Im looking for and nothing will ever compare. Ive wasted thousands trying alternatives and watched a million reviews but nothing compares to actually putting them on and giving them a full test. Return after return, Best Buy knows me by now. I just cant seem to find anything better than the A50 and as of today I am at peace with this because my first pair of headphones back in 2016 I bought with the money from my first job, I saved up to get the A50's and I never realized that choice was legit hitting the jackpot. It felt too good to be true but no... nothing does it better than ASTRO

Just sold my Nova Pro wireless and keeping A50s. The mic on the Astros is much better. Also, you can use the sonar software on the Astros (Pc) as well to enhance sound and the mic even to a better level.

I had to return my A50s because the top part in the headband kept falling out. Bought the mod kit and that didn't help either. So I went for the artic nova Pro wireless instead and I'm glad I did, far superior headset.

After owning both headsets and buying both from best buy, I’ve used both on pc for just about over 24 hours each and my initial impressions are that the steelseries does everything and sounds overall better the sound is just crisp and clear for every task but i don’t really care much about the built in mic for either since i stream with an external microphone, The Astro A50s have this weird static?/white noise sound not sure if my unit was defective or it was something else but worth noting the mic has this static or white noise when unmuted. Id say if you have a larger head go for astros/normal to medium sized head go steelseries they both are very comfortable. The ear cups on the steelseries have a nice breathable fabric that stages the sound quite well the astros have a nice plush feeling as well.Both have their knocks as well for build quality but that’s can be said with any headset just don’t handle a $300 headset like a horse lol, but overall can’t go wrong with either but for pc usage in my opinion if go with steelseries!

@ImCasuallyGaming I actually did a u-turn and went for the Astro A40 TR with mix amp wired version in the end, had them for two days and I'm very impressed so far, I can hear footsteps in warzone with some settings tweaked, sound quality overall is really nice and build quality is very impressive so assuming A50s are the same! Your right thou, the people complaining about headsets breaking so easily are probably not treating them right. My cousin went with the arctis pros last week and I had a go and they are pretty damn good too, so whichever anyone decides will be more than happy with. Thanks for your reply 👍🏻 happy gaming

@@Righteh All I have to say is good luck with that absolutely horrendous micro-USB connection. I’ve had one gimping a long for quite some time. Randomly while I’m playing the mix amp shuts off, I can wiggle the usb cable and it comes but on but inevitably it will fail again. Started just after the warranty expired and despite providing video evidence of what happens, that it’s the hardware and not the cables, Astro keeps sending me new micro USB cables I don’t need. I’m looking at buying the Schiit Hel because it’s the same idea, but made of aluminum and from an actual AV company. I started using different headphones once the cushion wore out on the A40’s and couldn’t justify the $60 just for pad replacement. Hopefully you have better luck than I have.

@@datdudetrent8938 Sorry to hear about your USB port / connection failing! That's not what you expect spending that kind of money on something. The mix amp build feels good and so far no issues but its early days, I only hope it stays that way. If I get the same issue I'll post here to warn others it's not just the very few that are having bad luck, but more likely a common issue! Good luck with your next purchase, hopefully it'll be problem free!

I’ve used Astro’s mic, V-Moda modmic, and the Arctis Pro Wireless, of them all my friends hear me the easiest on the Arctis Pro and I’ve never once heard them say anything about it sounding like your demo. There must be some sort of setting that reduces the extremely nasal Air traffic control sound.

Quite an important thing for playstation 5 users is that you can connect the arctis pro via usb and get full connectivity. With the a50 you need a hdmi audio splitter that results into losing all hdmi 2.1 benefits 😔

That’s why I didn’t get the Astro’s for my ps5. Went with Arctic’s 7p+. My astros are for Xbox but obviously connects to my pc. I no longer have an Xbox due to having a badass PC. The Astros are so comfortable and beautiful sounding. Prefer it tenfold over any of my other headsets.

Great video. I’ve made my mind up for the Steel Series. I like the look of it better, and that you can connect it to my phone for music, or for watching movies on the Series X. The only thing I don’t like about them, is the build quality. Very cheap plastic around where the headset connects to the speaker. Just broke mine last night. Really don’t know what I did. Lol! I hung them on a railing and when I came back, it was broke. No one around, just me. Pitiful.

A50 is unmatched but sure if you like music and movies I guess thats cool. If you really like music go for the sony brand or even BOSE does an amazing job when it comes to music clarity. Im a gamer so yeah A50. I use them. Ive upgraded to every gen and not only that Ive use my brother's Arctis and its fine but no where close and then if we talk about the price... Id pay 500 dollars for my A50s. Corsair, Razer, and any other brand doesnt even know how far off they are when it comes to the quality of audio they are clueless and just marketing experts NOT headphone experts. Sorry if this comment sounds harsh but I really genuinely care about other's choice as I have wasted thousands of dollars trying to find the best and these review channels are nice but they get caught up in the details of everything except exactly what they are supposed to be used for which is SOUND. A50's for gaming and if you like music buy a seperate pair for that in the BOSE or SONY brands they are exactly what you want for an alternative sitting in the bed or on a bus ride kind of amazing quality sounds. Awesome video..I bought the as50 for ps5 ,brilliant headset but a pain in the ass to charge it through the ps5,docking station goes off when u in rest mode..u cant charge the headset while u using the ps5 cos u have it on…so i have to charge it directly through the headset till we get a credible solution…any ideas?

I just bought the A50 after having steel series and it broke in the same spot after 6 months TWICE. they wouldn't cover the second break even after proving it is obviously a defect. For a company that puts their price tag on the durability and quality of the device I was extremely disappointed.

I had dozens of expensive headsets and they all had bad built quality then i bought astro and im never going back again. Its literaly unbreakable. Supreme built quality and the sounds is amazing and it has the most comfortable earcupsnive ever used. As much as people say things about astro. Imo its the best out there. Its like a lamborghini of headsets. No question about it.

Xbox users can get dolby atmos with any headset. Ps5 users need astro a50 or a40 with mix amp to get dolby sound. I wish ps5 offered dolby atmos for all headphones or at least dolby.

I was thinking I might give the new Nova pro wireless a try but I don’t think they will be that different from the pro wired from a couple years ago. I know the sound is better on open back headset like A40 but is it enough better than A50 to give up wireless freedom ?

@@noepalomo a40 is in a different league even compared to a50. A50 better only in that it is wireless. Everything else a40 is better with mixamp and cheaper. The thing is that if you have a50 i would probably not by a40. A50 is quite good. But a40 is like top of the line headset. Like if you want everything best then its a40. But mic is not the besti think. But i dont care about mix anyway

Hahaha, you did the mic test so early that i clicked passed it thinking i just skipped the intro :D And its true, the mic test is THE test we're all looking for. Im not impressed with the mic's on these tho. You could also do a review of Nvidia's noise cancelling in their Broadcast software, i've found it to be extremely effective and removing so much background noise. I can literally sit and chew crisps and rattle the bags without anyone hearing anything.

I had many expensive headsets and initally they are good but after a while they break down. Then i looked at astro. Inwas sceptical about the price but then decided to have a go. I can say that im never going back to any brand ever. The comfort, build quality and premiumness is just another level. Its like lamborghini of headsets. Go for it and ingiarantee you will never regret it. Great quality sound, i dropped mine like hundreds of times and it never breaks or gets damaged. Cups are undouptly the cofiest out there by far. For me there is no choise astro is just levels above everyone else atleast for now

@@OutsiderMoonie Not exageration. Its really true. Astro is levels above everyone else. For month ago i got a new a40 s. I need the wired version because the sound is a bit better than a50 and you have a mixap pro. Switched from my gen 3 astro to 4th gen and it was a huge jump in everything. The headset is just god amazing. Base is better than any other headset imo, increible dolby sound and just a pure joy to have. Astro has not switched from gen 4 to gen 5 because its inrivaled imo. Other brands just cant touch it.. Its by far the best quality built, most comfortable and one of the best at what it does. Other brands like corsair, steelseries pro etc just market their stuff with 5-40000 Hz frequence while astro comes with 10-24000 hz. Well human cant hear above 20000 hz anyway. So its kinda useless marketing. Astro is by far the best out there. The popularity and the numbers of units sold just shows it.

My best advice is to purchase separate headphones for separate purposes. I went through this same decision process and ended up keeping the a50s, selling the Nova Pro wireless, and getting the AirPod Max for music/movies/meeting/etc. If you’re not interested in Apple grab the Sony Xm4.

I had the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wired ones for quite long and I LOVED THEM, I really do want to get the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless ones but I have read on a few different places that they have quite a lot of "white noise" has anyone experienced this? I know that a lot of headsets can have some white noise especially wireless ones, but I have read that these have more than most other.

There is some, yes, but there are a couple of settings in the SS engine that minimize it. But in all honesty, it's not even enough to bother me. I don't notice it. My only gripe with these cans is the build quality is shite. They put all that effort into the sound quality but skimpt on the exterior.

I have astro a50 gen 4 but they lost alot of functions now you have to set EQ through dolby atmos app, base station just works for pc.or xbox and I always have to disconnect usb c from base station and reinsert for xbox to see astro a50,s not long had these a50 probably 7 to 8 months but think buy now wireless arctics.

theres a swich on the back so i only use 1 base station for my pc/ps5. for gen 5 l like to see better quilty speakers my first pair of astro a 50 gen 4 poped a speaker due to high bass so the speakers aint that great (with that said a ordered another pair of astro a50 4gen. and being able to turn the eco system off in the software could be nice as i for my selv never use it and dislike when it turns off useing my phone or somthing

This video is very subjective. I’ve owned many astros from a10 to recently a whole year with a50 and they’re not that different but when I switched to the Steele series Arctic’s pro wireless. OMG is was the best headset with the mic literally only the mic being the only con. I will never go back to anything else. You can feel the premium on the pros it’s so noticeable.

I made the switch from the a50 to the arctis pro also (because of the need for a hdmi audio splitter on ps5, resulting in the los of hdmi 2.1 feautures). They are both great, but also really prefer the steelseries. The on the fly battery swapping and the less gamer aesthetics are a big plus. The only thing i liked more about the a50 is the comfort whilst wearing glasses

The Arctis Pro overall build when it comes to lasting is just horrendous, ive owned mine for 12 months, they are dropped once, about 80cm. Not a single scratch on them, did everything right. Got to pick em up today, and one of the ear muffs just cracked off. Its just a plastic pin with a retainer clip. For something around 300 bucks. The actual design is garbage. Atleast Astro designed this weak spot with metal

With mine i got them around like a few days ago and the only time they ran out pf battery is when i first got them but after charging them to 100% i haven’t gotten close to running out of battery lowest i have gone is 50% after using them for like 5 to 4 hours

2 long years Ive had the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless. Last night, while gaming with some buddies on Dying Light 2, I took em off like I normally have done thousands of times in the 2 yrs Ive had em. And, like many other SS owners, the earpiece snapped off its housing. Broken. Now its a loose janky uncomfortable thing. Was looking for repo vids and found this and. Im happy to say. Astro is bad used mine then it glitched and smoke started to coming out of them... Their support is awful too.. it took 2 weeks to get anywhere with replacement.

The build of the steel series is CRAP! I would never buy a steelseries again in my life if the build stays the same. I got the Wireless pros and my cup broke off , got it repaired myself and then it broke again and now i only have sound in 1 ear cup. I must say though the wireless pros sound is amazing but im in the market for a new headset thats not steelseries

That’s why warranties exist which you should have used instead of super glue. Even cars which are tens of thousands of dollars more expensive than a headset have manufacturing defects.
