Any way to use xlr mic in console streams like i did with a40s?
@jamestaylor9549 ай бұрын
We need a 50 without a mic or at least a removable mic!
@IceCreamUploads9 ай бұрын
We were told that the mic is irremovable to increase mic quality (components fixed in place etc)… didn’t clarify if that’s accurate or just opinion or not - but it makes sense; especially when you hear how good the A50 X is. That said - I do understand the desire to remove it. The A40 definitely looks sexiest when it has the clean, mic-free profile.

Great vid. I'm been struggling to get what I need from what I have. I want to use my a50x with my goxlr and hear my consoles and pc sounds simultaneously and use my xlr mic. Is this possible? I have several adapters with hdmi and optical cables. Would those work or does it need to be line in? Just curious if you could help?
@IceCreamUploadsАй бұрын
I use my console(s) and my PC at the same time. I capture my console gameplay on my PC using my capture device (I use a built in Elgato unit but any capture device would do really). My console’s HDMI cable goes from the back of my console in to my monitor, with my capture device sitting in the chain as normal, feeding the gameplay into the PC. I then connect the PC to my A50 X base station with the red “PC” USB-C cable/port provided in the A50 X box - but this is just to power the base station. Next, and this is where it starts to get a little more complex, I have an audio embedder (which you need to buy separately, and we’ve linked in the video details). This embedder is placed on the end of a HDMI cable which feeds into the “PS” port on the back of the A50 X base station. To add extra detail here: The embedder only has 3 cables: the HDMI cable leading from the embedder device into the base station, a 3.5mm audio cable which comes out from the headphones port on the GoXLR and into the embedder - and then finally the embedder’s power cable. The embedder/HDMI cable is what allows me to “embed” the sound from my GoXLR straight into the base station and therefore my headset. As this is using an analogue HDMI connection - rather than a digital/USB connection - this removes audio latency. Basically, I control everything through my PC/GoXLR then feed that straight into my base station so I can hear everything in my headset. As the audio that is being embedded comes directly from my GoXLR that means that I can also use my XLR mic (which is also plugged into my GoXLR) effortlessly with it too. If you want to hear your own voice (or sound effects) without latency, this is flawless. The only things to add are: this method essentially renders the multiple ports on the back of the base station useless (as you’re connecting your consoles directly to your PC rather than the base station). This will mean that if you have multiple consoles then you’ll have to swap them in and out on your capture device. I didn’t want to do that so got a HDMI Switcher that my PS5, my Xbox and my gaming PC are all plugged in to - and then I plug that switcher straight into my Elgato capture device. This means if I want to switch from my PS5 to my Xbox I just change the source on my HDMI Switch and what I see on screen/hear in my headset changes over to match. Also, if you ahve any static on the lines, you might need to pick up a Ground Loop Noise Isolator too. Hopefully that helps you… it’s a little complex to explain!
@Ksmooth2022Ай бұрын
@IceCreamUploads definitely appreciate all the help man. I'll try this ASAP. Only question is I have some hdmi switchers and things with line out ports could I use that or does it need to be the embedder?
@Ksmooth2022Ай бұрын
So you use the embedder and a switcher? Since my switcher has a line out port can I just use that as an all in one without the embedder?
@IceCreamUploadsАй бұрын
@@Ksmooth2022 They’re different functions - at different points in the chain (in my setup at least)… using the line out on the switcher wouldn’t necessarily help in my setup as I’d still need to get that line out back in to the base station somehow to be able to hear it in the headset (which you still need the embedder for). I tried a few different line out/in options from the PC too but they all left me with some audio latency. The setup I have is the only way that worked without latency for me.

@IceCreamUploads sorry so many questions bro lol. Last question before I buy an embedder. Will this setup let me use my xlr mic in console parties like I used to be able to do with regular a50 and a40?

With the audio embedder would I still be able to use all three devices (Ps5, Series X and PC) or would I have to sacrifice one of my consoles to implement the embedder? My goal is to be able to stream from all devices and switch between them seamlessly which is why I'm thinking of purchasing this headset.
@IceCreamUploads9 ай бұрын
I use all three devices, but I have my audio going through my PC. I have a few extra things to make this possible/easy. I have both consoles going into a HDMI Switcher (something like this: www.amazon.co.uk/Switch-Splitter-Switcher-Supports-Blu-ray-Black/dp/B0C6GSK4RR/&tag=icecreamuploa-21), and then send the feed from the console I'm currently playing on from that Switcher into my capture device in my PC. It comes with a little remote, so I can Switch from PS5 to Series X without leaving my seat. The audio from my PC (including the console audio from my capture deivce) is then sent into my audio embedder through the 3.5mm cable going out from my GoXLR. So, I always have my PC audio, at all times - and also have audio from my console of choice mixed in too.
@mynameisurl90959 ай бұрын
So just so I’m clear, you only have one hdmi going into your a50 base station and it’s the one coming from the embedder? In my case I have an external capture card (elgato hd60x) and I was hoping to use the base station itself as my switcher for pc, Xbox, and ps5. Do you think that is possible somehow?

the audio is way better on my gen 4
@IceCreamUploads9 ай бұрын
Audio is subjective - so I’d never say you’re wrong - but IMO I’d definitely place it above my Gen 4 A50 headset… not by much but enough. Have you tried using the G Hub app to tinker with your audio settings? It could just be that you’re not using an audio profile that best suits what you need from it.
@yaaakuzzzapsn55329 ай бұрын
Hmm im not satisfied with the audio not a step up from the old a50s, sadly!
@IceCreamUploads9 ай бұрын
The audio on the old A50s was already great - so it’s always going to be hard to improve on that, although I do feel it packs more punch - and I notice it on the small things (like footsteps in PUBG). But, its value is in what it offers holistically… the audio is great but its that PLUS the superior mic quality, the multi-device compatibility/mixer functions, the mag-click charging, the app connectivity etc. It’s naturally gonna be more impressive if you’re not coming from an already high bar like the A50. (Although, I moved up from an A50 and love it.)

I use it with my PS5 and it’s flawless. I use it for work and streaming - so have it on for like 10hrs a day. What issues are you having people having? I can’t comment about LG OLEDs as I don’t have one… are people trying to use the Bluetooth on it? I don’t see why that won’t work, it pairs with my phone easily enough (although I haven’t used it with a TV so can’t say for certain). Not problems for me though. ☺️

@@IceCreamUploads "So I got the A50 X and honestly they just seem like they are made just for Xbox, haven’t tried them on my PC yet but they don’t seem to be flawlessly working for my PS5. First off the start up video for ps5, if you it set it up that way then voice/game chat mix is useless so the two side buttons on the headset become useless… No Dolby atmos or Dolby works. Enable 3D audio for it to sound even worse lol. I wish I knew all this before paying this much for something that isn’t even really made for my main console (PS5). If you own a ps5, I’d say look elsewhere or stick with the Gen 4’s. It’s very frustrating and maybe it’s Sonys fault but this is kinda unacceptable and should have just been an Xbox/pc headset at this point. This is unacceptable." this is one of the proplems in redet. But I think the headset were not set up in the right way so thats why they faced some problems. Anyway, thanks for your response. Are these only meant for 1 screen and multiple devices or are you able to use more than 1 screen plus multiple devices?
@IceCreamUploads9 ай бұрын
Putting it simply, you're intended to use 1 device on 1 screen at a time. But I have mine running through a PC with 4 screens attached so I can use my PC and console at the same time. Technically, you can use 2 devices at the same time, as long as one is connected by HDMI and the other is connected by Bluetooth... so, if you had a PlayStation connected by HDMI and a Switch (or Xbox etc) connected by Bluetooth you could in theory do that over 2 screens. Hopefully that makes sense! :D
