if the Maks has a curved corrector plate, why does the light entering the tube not refract?

It does! Just enough to counteract any aberrations resulting from spherical/ non-perfect-parabola mirrors. The question is: Does chromatic aberration occur? It must be but I don't know. Clear skies!

@@catchingphotons : Maks very rarely produce CA.....if you see any its probably caused by the eyepiece you're using.

you left out the bird jones variation, the worst catadiaptric on the market in my opinion...

@@catchingphotons no offense, but i beg to differ. your video breaks down the different type of telescopes out there and leaving out the bird jones variation is like saying its not out there. its a very complicated telescope to deal with because its not marketed as a bird jones telescope and you buy it thinking your buying a newtonian reflector with a lot of focal lenght and aperture and come to find out what you have is a wannabe newtonian with a spherical mirror and a barlow in the focuser to help the scope with its focal lenght. its like a cassegrain except it has the corrector in the focuser instead of at the front the way a cassegrain has it. i belive that influences alot in what you view because the liht passes throught the correcting lens first then goes to the primary then the secondary then thru the lens and finally your eye, in the bird jones variation the light hits the primary then the secondary then passes through the ccorrector lens slash barlow then the lens and finally your eye. the problem lies in the fact that they are manufactured with a shorter tube because the barlow in the focuser is supposed to make the tube longer and it effectively does, but its harder to perfectly collimate and even then what your viewing has abberations and what not.
