AstroAF - Astroasis Oasis Electronic Filter Wheel Maintenance | Drive Belt Replacement

In this video: I'm working on my Astroasis Oasis electronic filter wheel maintenance. I needed to replace the drive belt. It is really great that ‪@astroasis2020‬ provides replacement belts with the filter wheel. I spoke with them to let them know I needed to replace the belt and they mentioned to me that they had been working on improvements and would ship me some belts to try out. I love that about this company, they are always working on improving their products and their customer service is second to none! By far, Astroasis is the best company that I have had the pleasure to work with for my astrophotography gear.

Good thing a spare belt was supplied. Hopefully the spare will last longer and the new design has a more "lifetime" duration. I finally got reimbursed by Astro Oasis for shipping back their defective autofocuser. After a couple of emails to them weren't replied, I thought I'd have to eat the $30 shipping cost. But then Frank got in touch with me, asking if I could try to let them know what type of bearing Celestron uses to support the focus knob in my C8. I was able to send them a few photos and he was able to get some information on the bearing from the photos. In the email I asked Frank to look into the reimbursement and he came through and my PayPal was credited. I'm hoping Astro Oasis will get a US dealership arrangement that can carry spare parts and improve their warranty returns process.

@@KJRitch Yeah, really pleased. I think it’s the only wear and tear component of the filter wheel. Frank said the new belts have been improved and they are continuing to work on even more improvements. My sample was one of the first in the US, if not the first, so it has been a process of letting them know how things are working and providing feedback. I’ve seen guys post videos of them taping their ZWO belts back together. Thinking maybe they don’t provide replacements, not sure. I found the maintenance pretty simple and straight forward. Just fiddly. I’m glad you got your reimbursement. I had no doubt you would. Things do take a bit more time working from US to China but they always treat me like family. That’s nice you sent them the photos, I’m sure that helped them a lot! Cheers! Doug
