My Complete Image Processing Guide: bit.ly/astro-processing
In this video, I'll show you how to add a luminance layer to your color images to give them a boost in contrast and detail.
In the example, I use data shot with a mono camera and combine it with an existing color image.

Really cool!! Amazing how you can capture so much detail from the galaxies and nebulas. Admire your endurance in the frigid temps, too!!

Incredible feat of blasting through Photoshop as always Trevor. Every time I watch your videos I pickup some new trick. I like this one because it was relatively short.

Hey, i was wondering when you have a tracking mount, is there any advantage or disadvantage to taking fewer pictures but with longer exposures for "easier" stacking or more pictures with shorter exposures to reduce any accidental movement in the frame? Thanks I love your content!

Great stuff...My Dad gets back with my gear from Morocco today, been without it for a month since first session out there. It is raining though so no chance of any capture time 😐

I recently got a hypercam 183 m but not been able to use it because of the weather. How long and what gain did you use for your luminance subs?

Just curious, have you ever used an SCT before? If not, will you? (Around the 8" to 10" mark?). I think I saw you had an RC. Since Galaxy season is coming up...

When you first started did you hang out with somebody that was into this also? Or did you just do it all on your own? If so do you work in computers or this type of Technology? Or did you just learn it all by trial and error? Sorry for all the questions I sound like a cop. If I got that picture I wouldn't care what the other stars look like I'm so happy with what you got there.

When I look at far away galaxies, I realize there may be thousands of different civilizations in that one area just waiting to be discovered.

Yes new comment to your older comment(feb 9 2020)....With this particular image M51, the photons that created Trevor's image had been traveling for 26 million years to get to his camera... It is possible that a civilization has already been, and now vanished....Humans here on earth will NOT be here in 26 million years...the planet, of course, but not us. When we image objects, we 'see' them as they were, not how they are. When you consider an image such as the Hubble Deep Field, it is unlikely that we are/were the only intelligent life in the entire universe. Over all the hobby is mind blowing, and headache inducing, if one tries too hard to comprehend things...I am just trying to get some good images. - Cheers

One of those images have diffraction spikes , so did you use APO that you advertise always , or you used Newton in one of those , im not an expert in any of this , but i know diffraction spikes , i know you are usually brightly colored Chinese glass selling, this is best stuff saying ,spend your money here pointing ,not at all advertising ,commercial channel running but doing it for love and hamburgers kind of guy , But you also down to earth guy , gear is needed , bills need to be payed so im not hatting , just joking . Yes or no will do , thanks and wish you a lot of William Optics ornage white shiny objects in future and clear skys .Lightly poluted at that,
