I got one of those beginner £40 telescopes for xmas and near lost my mind looking at Jupiter and several of its moons as tiny pin pricks of light a couple of weeks ago. I think I would genuinely be rendered speechless seeing this kind of detail with my own eyes. So so cool

I did something similar last year :) , only it was a big 10 inch neutonian because A: I wanted a wide variety of objects to observe , and B: I also wanted to see some of the fainter stuff like the nebulae and a few galaxies , . , and altho it took time to get used to , it definitely works wiew these things , . . and I learned about a Lot of objects while doing so

Man it feels like 80% of picture quality depends on the atmosphere conditions. Once I got such an insanely crisp image of the moon with a stupid 70mm refractor and a 6mm eyepiece. The image was still, almost like a photo. I never ever seen anything like that again.

That occultation of Mars was the first one I ever observed live through a telescope. Viewed it with a 6" dobsonian under decent seeing conditions. It was phenomenal.

@@AstrobiscuitMr biscuit, why don't you but yourself a Nikon P1000 Camera which has a focal length of 24mm ~ 3000mm and that is optical zoom and if you use the 4x digital zoom, you can go from 24mm ~ 12,000mm yes 12 thousand mm.

5:50 I got the same feeling the first time I was able to observe Mars with my own eye (and camera).. I was shocked to be able to see details of the surface. It was in 2020 and Mars was at 63M km.. Very moving and surprising in a good and confusing way

Space often seems so theoretical of far detached from normal human experience. These videos of yours makes one realize that space is an actual, real, 3D environment with stuff lumbering around in it. Like those of mars setting behind the horizon of the moon, holymoly. That was like a scene from the Space Odyssey!

Those C-14's are great scopes but it's a two person job putting the tube on the mount. I've had one for about 6 years and never disappoints.
