Hello everyone, this video is about capturing some photos of space from our new remote observatory in Central Texas. The sky conditions out here are bortle 1, so they provide a rare pristine view of the night sky that few people can access. I took photos of Rho Ophiuci, the Andromeda galaxy, and WR134.
Our observatory where I captured this video can be found here: starfront.space/
Our mission is to make dark skies and remote observing more affordable for everyone, if you want to learn more or sign up, I invite you to check out our website.
Also, in the WR134 image, I ran into some filaments I hadn't seen before. As it turns out, a colleague Julian Shapiro reached out to me some months back about how he had discovered this object. Over the months that passed I forgot it existed, only to recently stumble upon it myself a few days ago! Since then, Julian has been preparing a paper on these filaments belonging to this likely new SNR. He will have some better images of it in due time, until then you can find Julian's work here: www.astrobin.com/8n21ke/?q=ju...

What is fun, is that you can have experienced amateur observers, who know the sky like the back of their hand, can get confused when they get to really dark skies.

Oh wow what an amazing project! I love astronomy but seldom I have had the opportunity to look through a telescope [worth looking through] but let me tell ya it's quite the rush when it happens.. I'd love more opportunity's to. To achieve "dark sky status" here in the UK I travelled to the Northumberland border to Keilder observatory and honestly what we saw there was truly precious and not just for me I took my two sons the eldest went on to get a degree in astrophysics and youngest still talks about that experience as if it was Disney land he was 9 when I took him he's 21 now. Your right EVERYBODY deserves the chance to escape the pesky man made lights that destroy the true beauty of our night sky❤ this is sentiment I truly understand. Have a humble like and subscribed. It's all I can offer but yes...this is wonderful! Your corona borealis shot is exquisite 👌

What you are setting up here is so good for the astro community, by keeping the price way more affordable that most places around the world, not just by allowing more inexpensive equipment to be used, but also by keeping down the monthly cost for renting a pier space. I applaud your motivation behind this project to make imaging under dark skies a more affordable and viable option for the amateur astrophotographer. (P.S while watching this video, I was stacking 18hrs of OIII on WR134 and noticed one of those two filamentous areas you mentioned in the video, is in my fov 😃 )

Very cool idea. I've done the TSP a half dozen times years ago until it got too big and more difficult to attend. Google maps shows you to be about 3.25 hours from my home in Arlington....it would be fun to come to Brady and see your setup. Speaking of Brady, is that where you're getting that skyglow in the background? Thanks, Michael

Reserved a pier. Since I plan to send a newt, I am wondering what to do about flats. Will the roof be open during early morning/evening so probably sky flats..? Alternatively if you have a white roof...
@astrofalls
@astrofalls Ай бұрын
Yes exactly! Roofs are open for flats. I have also realized that it is really easy to take flats off of the front of our roof when it is rolled back with the lights on

So I have a W.O. FLT91 on an AM5 with ASIAIR+, 2600MM/FW/3nm filters/200mm guide scope/asi290mm-mini guide cam. What would I need to change in my setup to make it a much better remote scope? My first thoughts are to swap out ASIAIR for an Eagle 5 Pro? Swap out AM5 for a better remote mount, but not sure which?
@astrofalls
@astrofalls Ай бұрын
We don’t suggest an Eagle, use a beelink mini pc. And the AM5 is the perfect mount for this, highly recommended/ the rest of your setup is great
