I'm a first generation Mexican American from Stockton as well. I just watched the movie on Amazon and man I didn't expect to get so emotional over watching it. All I can say is how amazing your father is and so proud of his accomplishment but most importantly I am mostly impressed for His Resolve to Succeed....The Will....or GANAS as we call it! Never Give up! OH wait...let me add this...What a mother you have!! What an amazing and supportive wife...truly amazing. VIVA LA RAZA

I am first generation Mexican American who earned a Bachelor degree and Master’s degree, became Military Officer, currently works as a Systems Engineer advisor. Growing up, out family was really poor. When I watched “A Million Miles Away” it totally reminded me of me. The timeline of how I worked my way up the chain and built my family along the way. The mentality of Jose is almost exactly how I got where I am today. This is amazing. Thanks for inspiring all of us. I still have a long way to go. I would love to meet Jose someday. That will be cool.

I was recommended the movie and I didn’t want to watch an astronaut in the making movie- I’m not interested in that but I’m so glad I watched. What an inspiring story. I cried here and there throughout the movie. The perseverance, the family love, even the elementary school teacher was amazing.

Your father flew on one of the most complex vehicles ever. If you can, ask him about his visit to Kuwait. He had a talk at the American School of Kuwait, which my 10-year-old self watched, and even got a signed photo. Thank you!

Your dad is a great role model, I just came across on a video about him and it gave me the boost. SI SE PUEDE!! I worked on picking grapes since the age of 14 and gardening at the age of 12. I am now a second year in college majoring in Animal Science Pre Vet with a potential minor in Chemistry. My love for science keeps growing every day. Thank you soooo much !!

I've thought of his perserverece many many times when I was tempted to give up in university and kept going. I never thought I could achieve 2 science degrees but I did it! 🙏❤️ Thanks for sharing.

OMG! I love your dad!!! He is so smart and well spoken. I found your channel cause of him but subbed because of you. I have two small daughters that could learn a lot from you. I also have a small KZbin channel and it's a grind but so much fun. Keep going and I wish you luck.

I, too, watched the movie and decided to search on KZbin for any videos in which the "real" Jose Hernandez was featured. This is the first one I've watched and I'm not sure I'll watch another or not...because I feel like your video gave your Dad a chance to just be himself. And I truly value that. Unscripted and honest, very humble and down to earth. That's really all I was curious about, and I find myself thinking that he's really a good human being; a good messenger for humanity everywhere. I agree with your Dad on everything spoken of, as well. Follow your heart, work hard, and your dreams CAN become a reality!! I also believe everyone has a place to be...a plan, if you will. But nothing is just handed over to you. You have to put in the effort. But if you do that, and it's meant to be...it will happen. Best of luck to you both, and your family. Peace and love to you all.

Just watched A Million Miles away- I was really taken back how many kids he had (5 kids!) and still had the time and health to train for the skills. I’m early 30s and man it’s so hard to physically train and it’s mentally exhausting while juggling a day job. If possible I wish to ask Mr. Hernandez - how was able to keep a consistent diet and mental encouragement given that both Asian and Hispanic food is so flavorful and hard and so hard to stay healthy?

Gracias Sr Hernandez on the weekends we do family night movie but we actually changed it today and we did Movie morning this morning when I came from work this morning , my 3 year son wanted to see your movie with my mom so it was a very nice experience to be with family and my son to enjoy it as much as we adult did too. My son was so into Coco Melon and now he is so into space ship / Astronaut and even likes to where the costume of disney character of toy story Buzz light year but now he pointed out that he wants a costume just like you had in your Movie . Thank you for showing what a Latino can accomplish when you put all your strength and motivation to keep going in what you really want on how you did not let your Dreams go away .

You should be very proud of your achievements too. I ask a question, 'what on earth would we do without our police officers, I for one do not want to even think about that prospect?! I try so hard to keep a very healthy respect for our police force, and for all the hard work and sacrifices you make to keep us as safe as is possible. (I just woke to find my house and us unlocked, but safe, thanks to you guys.) I also appreciate your other halves and your families for what they must go through watching you leave home for work, and come home exhausted and tired. Bless you and them.
