Imagine if a "musk" built things like helicopters and the such... Hard to believe Apache's are ancient in terms of tech... but are still one of the most capable attack helicopters out there. I believe we need to colonize mars for many reasons though, we will learn so much about us, what it takes to live, robotics, etc etc in doing so. I think Robots will do most of the heavy lifting, while humans will live mostly underground, and most spaces will be like a garden...While robots mine and build... IMO the first humans touching down on mars should be to a compound that was built by robots and capable of sustaining human life. Let that sink in.
