Just 5 more years! Such excitement! Then again I did have second thoughts after watching the movie Gravity.

what kind of stuff did you do and was it worth it? do you need the full day to do the training?

The training is a half day. First we all tried landing a space shuttle in a simulator (just on a PC, not a fancy simulator) and the one that was best at that got to be commander. The rest of us chose different roles and went through a simulated mission, with some of us in a model of a shuttle and the others in the control room. We all had scripts to read plus things we had to do or look up in manuals or on the computer screens and so on (depending on our roles; of course the commander had to land the shuttle the same way as we'd practised.) Then we got to play on the anti-gravity wall and the multi-axis trainer (see my videos of those things) which were really fun, and finally we had our photos taken with Jon McBride and he gave this talk. We also got polo shirts and pastries, juice etc. I think it was worth it. :)

Coincidence. Not irony. It would be ironic if you met him in London if he were on the no-fly list for London, or perhaps if he was an immensely prejudiced person against London-everything. This is a coincidence though.

Question. Do they have careers in NASA to be an Astrophotographer?? If so, how long is the training & what is required to reach that career?? Please Respond, thank you! :)
