And then she says that we should send out signals because she believes that aliens are good. No observational data, no reliable and repeatable experiments, just a belief. And that does not have any relevance I have to agree:D
@thzzzt
@thzzzt 5 жыл бұрын
@@raspas99 Well, maybe not a belief, but a reasonable assumption. ET has made it way past our current level without destroying itself. For humans, that outcome is still very much in question. Given that, which side would you feel safer with? Rather, I think signaling is kind of naive --to think that they would actually answer. BTW, we've been signaling anyway, ever since the invention of radio.
@formworksucks

@@thzzzt How many, if any, other alien civilizations have they destroyed? Tricky subject, we should be careful and not send out primitive radio signals. It will demonstrate to any hostile creatures our helplessness.

It's not insane tho. You should watch 'cool worlds' video on why we might alone in the universe. We really don't have any idea how likely life is to start. If it's like 1/10^40 chance then we're probably the only ones in the observable universe. If it's 1/10^10 then there might be a few per galaxy. We just don't know the odds of bio genesis occurring.

Sure we are the only species on the planet to have developed complex technology and language but where is our technology taking us. If it leads to our extinction that hardly seems smart. And for language we can not be sure as to what level other species communicate.
