Annamalai Swami (1906-1995) was a Self Realized Person and a Direct Disciple of Ramana Maharshi. He was born in a village in Tamil Nadu and left home in 1928 to become a disciple a Ramana Maharshi. He served his guru for 10 years. He was strongly attached to the form of his guru and this became an obstruction in spiritual progress. Hence first Ramana Maharshi hinted him to go away from his ashram and then told him not to even talk with him. He told him to meditate on the real guru which is formless Self. Annamalai Swami followed this and after decades of Self Inquiry he realized the Self. He passed away on November 9, 1995.

It's all the same. Astrology, Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism. All indian content talks about the highest. There is content in India which talks about duality but that content is/was by spiritual beings who are work-in-progress. But for the highest truth, there are no labels. Buddha didn't create Buddhism. Buddha is the same as Krishn, Shiv, Mahavir, Guru Nanak, Kali, Ram. The teachings "appear" different to idiots like us because we have our filters on. But in reality they are not different.

I think of this as desire being equal to resistance. Where as a person with no desire will have little to no resistance in understanding and feeling the universe in all its actual self, the person with desire will have resistance to it, thus creating blockages and friction between the self and the universe. Thus the best way to experience the universe and not have your spiritual work go to waste is the understand yourself and the "why" for the desires you have. Once you get rid of those, your soul can be more fluid and be able to mesh more with the universe.

I've always said I don't care about what happens in my afterlife because I obviously can't rememeber what happened in the past life. So I'm just gonna make the best of THIS life time and try to experience more heaven than hell. Nature is cyclical and sorta depressing when you look deep into it. Those having a 'lucky' life have no idea what they did to merit it from whatever life before. I don't know who I was before(sure I could do a past life regression but how would THAT knowledge influence THIS life?) and I won't remember who I am now in the next life.
