I would love to get a good copy of this lens some day. I tried two copies earlier this year one was better than the other but both had awful corners. The ZWO adapter (new one even) was trash too, too much tilt and my camera doesn't have a way to adjust it. Jealous you have two good copies lol.

Hey! I spent a lot of hours to figure out how can I use a ZWO CMOS with these wide angle lenses, there are very few option, mostly canon as you mentioned sadly almost impossible to do it with a sony E bayonett my solution was, I used the redcat ring, it's almost perfectly fit with the rokinon 135mm (you just can't access to the aperture ring once you closed) so it's very helpful video side note: the voice in the video should be much louder, and the camera focus is not sharp when you holding those things in front of it

Good to know the redcat ring fits! And thanks for the video tips, working on my video quality. Trying to just put stuff out and fail foward instead of doing nothing, I appreciate the tips!

Nice video. I have the same 3D print solution. The biggest issue I’ve run into is rotating the camera angle. I’ve got a thin rotator I want to try, but working out the back focus is going to be a pain.

A thin rotator would be a dream, changing the angle is such a pain. I've just elected to leave mine at 90 degrees PA

Awesome video Bray! Such a pleasure to watch someone with such an obvious passion for this hobby! I'm just getting started and recently purchased the AstroDymium ring system for my Rokinon 135mm lens. I have the M43 version as I'm still using my Olympus EM1 Mark III. I'm now looking at the ASI OSC camera options - considering the 533, 294 and 183 - can you offer an opinion? I'd love to know what you think! Kinda struggling with the choices!

amazing pictures. But why are there spikes on the stars in the first panorama with the Rokinon? You seem to have inserted a detail picture from another setup? That should be mentioned.

I cannot get focus with an ASIAIR Plus, ZWo EAf. Back focus is 44mm. Camera is a ZWO 183mc pro. Guide camera ZWO 120 mini. Polar aligned. Stopped down to 2.8 . Focus was just off infinity. ASI Air said it could not find a suitable star for guiding. Live view showed a million starts. Any thoughts? Thx Mike

Thanks for posting Bray! How do you like this Texas heat so far?

@@astrofalls Yeah, the humidity here can be brutal. I'm on the west side of Houston so really humid here, but that's what swimming pools are for. Lol.

Nice rig you have there, Bray. I've been thinking about pairing my Rokinon 135 with a ASI2400MC. I'm wondering what a good lens adapter would be? Most of the options from ZWO seems to have M42 threads, while the 2400MC has M54 threads.

can these cameras capture video or are they strictly setup for long exposure stills? at the moment i've got a budget dslr pointed at the night sky with a 16mm f1.4 lens, and everything is too pixilated to identify what is a rocket piece or satellite.. it is very interesting to watch what you can't see with the naked eye go tumbling across the sky at night in 4k. im gonna invest in a different lens and hope that solves my issue

I have an ASI2600MC. What backfocus do you recommend when using the Rokinon 135mm? Also, what guide scope are you using?

On the lens with the zwo auto focuser have you got it working using auto focus or are you manually adjusting focuser if so what step size are you using , I have a canon nifty fifty coupled to a zwo585mc but haven’t worked out autofocusing yet if at all possible as you only need a step size of 2-3 and that moves the lens a lot be great if I oils get it working.

Hi, I am very new to this hobby, do you suggest a 360 mm focal length f6 mini refractor with a reflex and a tripod/star adventurer to start the hobby, or I should take a 135 mm focal lenght but f 2?
@astrofalls
@astrofalls 2 жыл бұрын
I would strongly suggest going with the camera lens if you are new and just using a star tracker! Once you get a stronger mount, then I would consider a telescope. f/6 is quite slow and will need some longer exposures than the star adventure can handle easily.

Hi Bray! How do you rotate your camera with the EAF in place?

thanks for the good tips! proof is in the pudding 🤣 I like your pudding so ... yeah ... you were right ... I got a roki 135 ... no Apsc cooled camera yet ... was thinking of getting my color guide camera the sv305 using an imx 290 on it with an adaptor and see what I can get ... :) ...

Yeah it really is the best option with 3D printed parts. Those janky adapter combinations on cloudynights give me nightmares

I wanted to use Nikon lenses on a deidcated camera, but sadly I can't lock my aperture like in canon's ones after detaching them from the camera

You can use d-series lenses or older with the ZWO Nikon adapter as those still have an aperture ring.

I have a setup similar to this but I am having a problem using autofocus on the EAF. I get it pretty close to focus, click autofocus, then when it zooms in and out it goes too far in and bumps up against infinity. Then its out of focus so it does not work. Is this something you experienced?

I have the same issue with my Canon 70-200 2.8. I’m not able to run the autofocus routine appropriately maybe because of the focus end-stop. Did you solve?
@OVRCOME
@OVRCOME 7 ай бұрын
I did actually and you are right. The EAF and the Lens basically need to start from 0. So the lens is all the way in and the EAF is turned in as FAR as it will go. Then slowly increase focus until you are close. Then run the AutoFocus routine. Also put your steps at 25. Or choose a small number. Worked for me. @@federica7406

Sure can. I use a ver 3 with a 1DX iii on a HEQ5 and get great images. Have you changed the foot of your lens to a RRS foot? If not do so as the foot that comes with the lens has too much play especially as you have to add a plate to it.

Hu, looks like a scam at 13'30 -> 13'32. There's a switch between a refactor kit shot (see the diffraction spikes) to a lens kit shot (which is not bad at all by the way). Anyway, angular resolution is not the same at all. Don't think you can achieve such a resolution with a 67mm wide aperture :)
