El 5 de junio de 2023 se apagó la voz que abrió caminos con potente sencillez a una parte gigante de la expansión de los ritmos brasileños al mundo entero. [ Astrud Evangelina Weinert ]; Conocid como “Astrud Gilberto”; La Chica de Ipanema. Crecí escuchando sus canciones. Quizá las generaciones de hoy no les suene su nombre. Sin embargo sus interpretaciones corrieron el mundo entero y todos los músicos e historiadores sabemos quién fue. Poseía unas bases extraordinarias. Además de su idioma nativo El Portugués, hablaba, El Alemán de su padre, El Inglés, El Español y la escuché hablar y cantar en Francés y Japonés. La interpretación de Astrud en de “Girl from Ipanema” en la producción de Getz-Gilberto de 1965 fue determinante crucial. Vendió millones de copias y ganó el Grammy del año. Muchos historiadores dicen que es la canción más escuchada y grabada de todos los tiempos. Se disputa este honor con la canción “Yesterday” interpretada por Los “Beatles”. Pero la historia se la dejó a los biógrafos. En una opinión muy personal, entiendo que El Pueblo de Brasil no ha valorado de forma correcta la trascendencia y aportación cultural musical de esta artista. Ella brilló con luz propia y llevó la música brasileña a todos los rincones de la tierra.
