What makes this a great listen is found in one word: BALANCE! Nobody overshadows anyone else here. You think Astrud is gonna have everything revolve around her voice and boy are you in for a pleasant surprize. Astrud had the good sense to hire great musicians. She lays back and lets the musicians do their thing. She doesn't standout apart from her great singing. This is a band concert, not just an Astrud Gilberto promotion. All I can say is WOW!

Now that I've grown out of rock n roll, and find acoustic folk music only goes so far, I am so glad there is bossa nova in general and Astrud Gilberto in particular in the world. Stimulating, innovative, with a strong musical structure and complexity and a great rhythm. Her voice is calm and yet stimulating (again) and intriguing and her band is very fine. I am so grateful she exists and flourished. Thanks for posting this

Astrud is the incarnation of sensuality, her crystalline perfect-pitched non-vibrato voice effects every cell in my body and makes the tears fall from my eyes. Astrud, where have you gone ?? I don't care if you're 72 now, please don't abandon us ; WE LOVE YOU. Bill, Jay, Romero knock my socks off ; what incredibly gifted players, a never-ending outpouring of pure creative bliss, and Paulo ; DAMN, his songs are beautiful !!!!!!! I find myself mouthing these tunes all day and all night. ASTRUD, PLEASE COME BACK TO US !! PLEEEEEEEEEEEZE. I’m 52 years old now and I remember my parents listening to this when we lived in Paris and Germany. This song came out before I was born but it sounds so good to me and I loved it listening to it being a little girl. It’s still such a breathtaking song that I could hear all day. All day! It always makes me think of being on vacation in a little cafe. Her music is liquid gold. Hope she is healthy and doing good right now being in her 70’s. I’m so thankful to have grown up with good music and they just don’t make it nomore. I know one thing Astrud would sound good with anything she makes even at her age. Like fine wine. ♥️♥️♥️

What strikes me from this set is how sassy a performer she became. I didn’t much follow her career after the early Bossa Nova fad, for which she was rightly an iconic figure, but if you watch her in any videos from that period she always looks almost frozen with fear - the words ‘headlights’ and ‘rabbit’ come to mind. It is great to see her in this set enjoying and expressing herself confidently. Her vocal range has developed as well. Good to see this, and thanks for uploading.
