The AX3000 also has 1 less core than the AX56U which makes the AX3000 actually slower than the AX56U meaning it is a Tricore at the same 1.5GHz speed where as the RX56U has a quad core 1.5GHz

8:10 By saying "end up buying separate mesh devices to extend wifi..." vs "you can connect it directly to this with other Asus mesh devices" do you mean that if buying mesh routers separately from different brand requires efforts to setup and troubleshoot while using Asus routers with AiMesh, we can simply get it done via the menu by just few clicks?
@TechManPat
@TechManPat 3 жыл бұрын
Asus branded ai mesh devices will be controlled by the single router if you have different brands you will have two seperate admin panels to control. And it won’t utilise this modem as part of the mesh

The graphic at 1:12 is misleading. It shows the difference between the AX3000 and all other 802.11ac routers (note the *AC*). That graphic doesn't include the AX56U which uses the *AX* standard, not AC.

7:47 ASUS really want you to think you can have a wireless mesh, wirelessly connecting multiple routers, but the wifi strength/speed to do this doesn't actually exist even with the AX3000. You really only have enough wireless bandwidth (or processing power?) for one person to receive (or send) wifi at full speed, and if it has to share the bandwidth maintaining a link to another router your experience will start to degrade. Also intermittent interference will cause connection to drop between routers causing the connection to drop and then it won't retry (to reconnect between mesh routers) and you will have to reboot your routers every day 👍. --I HAVE solved this problem by connecting my aiMesh with a wired connection using Ethernet-Over-Power (powerline) to get the convenience of a completely wireless system though with 2xAX3000 routers.

Hi, Pat. I have the RT AX56U model. It gives me a lot of "Network access denied" error while connecting to the router. It is using the latest firmware. Settings are correct and it has been rebooted several times. At the moment, the router's dashboard shows 1 device which is my laptop and another one, my phone, it shows network access denied. Last night it is OK.

Thanks for the video! While you’re right that I’d be fine with the AX1800 speeds, my main concern is range. Disregarding mesh, would the AX3000 give further range since it’s got more speed to drop off from? Is the much significance in that?

what is the best device for AiMesh only. because i already have a AX86U Gaming router as my main router. i wanted to get rid of my TP-link Power Line / Range extender that is capped at 100mbps. (and that's over both Wired & Wifi) AX1800 Seems decent value, money wise. But how much range am i sacrificing with two less antennas compared to the AX3000
@Bicketybam68

Very confusing the difference between brands, let alone between the same brand. There is the Asus AX3000 router and an Asus TUF AX3000 router. Not that I can see much of a difference with the specs sheet, at first glance the TUF version says it has _a 1.5GHz tri-core processor, and that data rate transfer is 802.11ax (5GHz) : up to 2402 Mbps_ whereas the one mentioned in your review has _a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, and that data rate transfer is 802.11ax (5GHz) : up to 1201 Mbps_ Everything else "seems" to be the same specs (without a more indepth reading of the specs), so would you say the TUF version would be a better version because of the data rate transfer on the Wifi 6 or would the quad core processor be the better option? Price difference between both is basically negligible with the TUF being about $10 more. Any thoughts on this?
@knifeyonline
@knifeyonline 3 жыл бұрын
I thought the TUF version depricated the plain AX3000 version, *and the one pat is reviewing is leftover stock that they're trying to get rid of now
@knifeyonline
@knifeyonline 3 жыл бұрын
but it doesn't seem like it looking at stock levels... I guess I was wrong. But there is a third version now, that's called a "gaming" version (RT-AX86U AX5700) for $430... it has 4x4 antenna array instead of 2x2... I would definitely get that if you have multiple people gaming. I am having issues with the ax3000 with multiple people playing killingfloor2, people furthest away from the router start lagging.

Pe alte routere precum TP-LINK/TENDA/MERCUSYS functia este activata si ascunsa). - WAN - Internet Connection - UPNP: No - WAN - Nat Passthrough: PPPoe Relay: Disable - IPv6: Disable - Administration - System - NTP Server: time. Cloudflare. Com sau 1. Ro. Pool. Ntp.

hey,, im having trouble at my current internet connection,, my pc having high packet loss everytime im playing any online game, it ussualy stays around 10-15% which make it unplayable and it spikes to 60-70% sometimes, vpn such as exitlag or wtfast does help me quite alot but not completely. but then i notice my brother's pc having no issue at all 0% packet loss and stable connection, we are currently connected directly to the modem via cable,, our house have like 8-10 devices (only 3 wired) and 20mbps down and 8up most of it is just light use of the internet.. do i need these kind of router for better internet connectivity? should i buy some decent router anyway?
@art-de-lark
@art-de-lark 3 жыл бұрын
If your brother is having no issues - it might be a waste of money. Better to investigate other things. For example, swapping out the ethernet cable is a cheap thing taht's worth trying (check the rating of the cable too). It *could* be the router, although it's strange if your borther is getting no issues, but other things need ruling out first. It's also worth running some packet loss tests using a Live USB of Ubuntu on your computer. This will allow you to try another OS without messing with your current install. Note that download speeds will likely much slower on a USB install, so don't try testing speed on it, just packet loss and stability related things.

THAT particular higher speed transfer rate for the more expensive router - you must've mentioned that, from the very beginning - is useless, actually for both routers, since WiFi 5, and especially WiFi 6, doesn't broadcast their WiFi signal to a very wide range ! Which is why the Mesh technology has been invented, so that you can have covered a much bigger area even with high frequency - WiFi 5 and 6, that is - than with the 2.4Ghz! Why Mesh technology? Beside that fact that the producers gets bigger sales with the additional routers they also provide - like I said - bigger areas with relatively weak broadcasting radio signal, BUT, in comparison with the classic Access Points and Repeater connection, that can be done with different brands, Mesh insures seamless connections in the designated area with no need of logging to different SSID's, setting different classes of IPs for each device, not to mention updating each and every time every device! Hence, the Mesh configuration is much simpler with greater outputs.

Golden rule of Wi-Fi, the more aerials, radios, airtime, processing power and direction of the black pointy things you have under your control the better. More users and devices = need more radios More Wi-Fi / router features = need more processing power More speed = need more airtime (clean) More home coverage = need more aerials to point in different directions (where you placed the device also matters) In my experience

depends on the speed of the hard drives, you average 50Mbps when coming from 5400 rpm hdd 100Mbps on a 7200rpm hdd faster the drives are the more data they can push, however whether it be raid or not speed.. this also becomes a moot point because you aren't going to exceed 100Mbps unless you are using ssd's across the entire network..

So, you start by using a crappy NAS with limited bandwidth? WTH? Then you bring up USB ports where most people need one, but less than 5% of anyone plugs stuff in permanently to their router, let alone need two. Its ultra cheap to get a one to many USB adapter anyway. Then you talk about separating the 2.4 Ghz vs 5 Ghz and say it does fine combining them. It does, but if you buy smart home devices you learn many can't handle mixed bands, or you may simply realize that switching technology is overhead that makes it more glitchy. Everyone should have each band on its own SSID. Then, you start to go into real differences, yet test one download. I have more than 5 devices wanting full bandwidth with dozens of others. When I add in my WiFi cameras, they really hog bandwidth. Supporting multi devices simultaneously is HUGE. This whole review was from a one user with limited devices perspective. Again, I routinely have two X-boxes streaming, three TVs, and multiple cell phones... and PCs, cameras, smart devices, pool equipment, etc., etc.
