I wanted the original ROG Ally, but the screen too small. Then i saw Legion!. Wow 👌 The 8.8inch screen is a game changer.

I had rog ally since november but I never used it too much because of small display which cause excessive eye fatigue especially with AAA games. Now I've sold it and I've bought Legion GO and I've noticed immediately the difference, its display is a game changer in Handheld's market. It runs even quieter and cooler than Ally and the grip is much better for my big hands

The issue with these types of tests is that they need to be synched up, with same settings both in-game and in Windows. If it's not then the frames, frame time, min doesn't matter. They change all the time. What's important is to see how they handle various difficult sections in the games. The Last Of Us, at stairway outside of the building when the people run out---heavy water area. Typical point where the game struggles. That's how you can truly see how the games do. That, or in-game benchmark tool started at the same point. Appreciate the work you're doing. Just figured I'd give a heads up.

Why is no one talking about how massive it is to be able to have 8gb of vram while having 16gb of ram? Call of duty will have a MASSIVE performance improvement because of this for example. You need to test this with the vram manually set to 8gb.

Looks like buying the Go was the better choice. Didn’t have to wait. Love the screen and no big bump in performance only with 15w for the X with extra ram.

⁠how is 10-15fps not noticeable? Not to mention the extra ram will help a ton with stuttering. I love the go but the ally x is the clear winner and even better when used in desktop mode

Seems like the GPU clock speed is most of the time higher on the Ally X in the 15W Mode (also the RAM speed). It changes in the 30W Docking Mode.

I'd be more interested at the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme at a new $450 price point (with fix to the melting SD Card issue). Lenovo Legion Go and new Ally X are a performance match so you pick your fav. Though you could probably get the Legion Go + a good power bank for the MSRP of the Ally X.

I buy the LGO on the last year is one of the best machines in my opinion but i sold it the only thing i miss is the bigger screen now double battery with the performance on 15w and less hot plus 8gb extra RAM ideal for me🐵

Rog ally x is on top in terms of performance, temperature, battery life and has amd fluid motion and fsr built in unlike legion go. And lets not forget about software support. Legion go is asleep on software unlike rog ally

Wow legion go is srill better even tho this imcoming out after it ? Lenovo knocked it out the park with the legion go. 15w the X outperforms it but it seems to be just about how lenovo is using the low power profile . But when it comes to 30w thats when we see both hardwares that are actually quire similar show similar performance. But that big screen and detachable controllers is a game changer that none of this handheld pcs have. UNIQUE. 👍🏾

I think we need to give the Ally X some time to get the drivers, bios etc all up to speed. Keep in mind that, even if it is a refresh, they still have to update it for the new hardware changes. I'd expect to keep seeing improvements with time. Just like we did with Legion Go.

Pretty surprised at how much better the Ally handles lower power modes. It almost looked like a 20-30 fps difference in some areas. I like my legion go but I'm definitely eyeing the Ally X as an upgrade because Lenovo has been shit when it comes to supporting their own product.

@@hairnation68 What do you mean how? It took them 6+ months to update the graphics drivers. And then when they did that, they broke the fps counter and it took them over another month to release the latest update which broke even more things. The shortcut button stopped working so I no longer have quick access to power profiles. Then there are all the headaches the Go's native portrait display have caused with games and docking.

@@drewneedscoffee671 why am I not facing any of the problems you just mentioned? Not to mention, Asus isn't famous for its support either. So you really aren't upgrading or downgrading, you are basically wasting your money for a delusional upgrade. Your money, your choice, I guess. Personally I'll wait for Ally 2, THAT would be a true upgrade if LeGo doesn't release its next gen by then. But even so, if they release it 2 or even 5 months after Ally 2, I'd definitely go for LeGo next gen over Ally 2 because it gives you the true handheld pc feeling unlike Ally which feels more like a console than a pc even if it runs with windows, y'know?

@@JabiPapi It will add 5-10% performance boost roughly. The extra ram also allows for more longevity since 8GB can be allocated to VRAM all the time now. That was not really preferred with the OG ally.

No es mucha la diferencia ojala ya se pudiera saber mas a detalle la duración de la bateria de la ally x yo me compraria la que tiene mayor bateria realmente no creo que unos cuantos fps mas importen aunque si la lenovo fuera la de mejor duración de bateria esos fps extra tampoco estarian de mas aunque personalmente yo usaria la consola en su modo de 15w para que me durara aun mas la batería y en este caso la ally tiene mayores fps en ese modo y si tiene mejor bateria pues ya seria mucha ventaja poder jugar tanto tiempo a ese tipo de juegos de maners portatil

It's probably to soon for a new machine, the ram and battery is a good improvement but it's the same small screen and same chipset For me it's a 1/2 good idea !

When legion go users bang on about their screen size you know lenovo fucked up... nobody cares about screen size, its a handheld, i guess that automatically makes the TJD T101 automatically the best since that has a 10.1 inch screen right, nothing else matters, bigger is better lol forget battery, forget performance, forget noise, forget software... just bigger.
