Thanks for the review! Especially the last part of compatibility list of all the coolers. thats so important for all itx builders. Do you mind if u can have a test of rog x670e itx board? curious about if L12S ghost edition would fit or not.

No sound yet very informative in the shortest amount of time. Wish more people does it this way. One question is whether the L12S can be mounted with the heat pipe ends facing the PCIe slot? Does the height of the rear heatsink get in the way?
@L91 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Sorry, my voice isn't feeling it today. The rear IO shroud is too tall for the L12S to me mounted 2nd orientation. You can find cooler orientations linked in written review in the video description. The video would have been rather long if I were to show every LP cooler tested.

This is very interesting because Noctua says the NH-L12S will NOT fit with that motherboard. But it looks like that's what you've got installed at the end of the video. Did you have any problems? Do all the pipes clear the VRM heatsink? It's hard to tell from the top view.
@L91 Жыл бұрын
One of the heatpipes makes contact with the corner tip of the plastic I/O shroud by about a hair. Didn't leave any marks, though. Noctua is just being cautious.

I just ordered this board but am worried now. Reading there's lots of coil whine and no native LAN or Wifi drivers during windows install, so you need a USB ethernet adapter during the install.
@L91 Жыл бұрын
You can use mobile data connection via USB to install drivers during Windows installation. This is how I did it. Yes, coil whine seems hit & miss and to varying degrees, though I don't hear much about it these days.

Can you tell more about VRM fan? They works allways or only when CPU on hard load? And can i controll motherboard fan curve in bios? I build a silence PC, so it`s very important for me. Thanks.
@L91 Жыл бұрын
It's always on and not controllable in BIOS. I can't hear mine at ldle or high CPU loads like Cinebench R23. Others have had mixed experience in the regard. Mine is noticeable in gaming and has very weird behaviour, I'm still looking into this. Its seems to be mixed bag with these boards as some have reported no issues.

Can you replace the VRM fan with the Noctua 40mm/60mm fan? Im worried about coilwhine and I reckon the Noctua will cool the VRM even better. Not sure how big the stock ASUS fan is though.

Thank you so much! i am planning to use this Mobo too, with IS-55 and using Fractal Ridge. Wanna to know the orientation of the heatsink. I notice you write the (Y) after IS-55, but I am not sure (Y) meaning. If the heatsink will over the RAM, what is the RAM clearance and any suggestion for the RAM can fit it?
@L91 Жыл бұрын
Y meaning Yes. The IS-55 only fits in one orientation, going over the RAM. 33mm Max RAM height, so TeamGroup Vulcan DDR5 or Gskill Flare X5 or Ripjaws S5. I'd highly recommend the AXP120-X67 for use in Fractal Ridge as it's a much more powerful cooler.

How does the type C DP alt mode work? Does it just recognize a display, or do you have to configure it to be a DP port? Also are the chipset fans controllable in the bios?
@L91 Жыл бұрын
Chipset fan isn't controllable, but isn't noticeable either. The DP alt mode only works for integrated graphics
@DaneMurdock Жыл бұрын
@@L91 Thanks for the reply. If the chipset fan isn't controllable then I am probably going to go with something else. I recently got rid of an Asus x670-i and the chipset fan ran consistently between 6k and 8k RPM. Maybe this mobo's fan doesn't run so high, but I definitely want to have a fan controller if I can. Also, I want that DP mode specifically for integrated graphics to use my drawing tablet through a single usb-C cable. But the lack of fan controller might override this for me.
@L91 Жыл бұрын
@Dana M you can't hear the chipset fan, so why does it matter if its controllable

@@L91 I don't want to have a fan in any system that I have no control over. If not for noise then for preventing wear and tear over time.
