To repeat what others have said, I sure do appreciate when things don't work out the way you planned because that happens to me more often than not lol. Watching a video of everything being an easy fix and going exactly as planned could be pretty demoralizing since that doesn't match my reality. Also, I can learn from your further troubleshooting in a way I could not if it was just the first thing you thought of every time. Thanks for the video!

Ceramic caps are for eliminate high-frequency and reduce ESR. Value from 10nf to 1000nf. Voltage rating of 50V and above. In power supply circuit Value of ceramic cap (as a filter or bypass cap) don't effect function. But it doesn't apply to other circuit. Like in radio or oscillator or amplifier circuit. In these circuits slight change can make big difference in functionality of device.

Shorted port may have cause the entire issue. Shuts the PSU off when plugged in and causes other components to fry. They should incorporate fuses at the backside of the port to protect internal parts but that would be too easy. Instead they just incorporate circuit protection in the PSU. Imo, it's a cheap design so they'll sell more laptops. Doesn't take much to screw up a port, make the average user go out and buy another one. Guys like you is what keeps many owners happy, save them hundreds.

Question, can't you just inject voltage with a AAA or AA battery?
@simonerachele62313 жыл бұрын
I guess a normal 1.5v battery is not going to feed enough amps. If I remember correctly they are rated somewhere around 0.2/0.3 watts which would make it draw 0.3 amps under short circuit conditions. Maybe a good thermal camera could detect the increasing temperature but if you can afford 1.5k $ worth of thermal camera a 60 $ switching power supply should not be a big deal (you can even build a power supply of your own with less than 30$)
@anglosaxon16223 жыл бұрын
@@simonerachele6231 How about a rack or row of 1.5v AA's connected in parallel? I also thought of using one of the spot thermometers, like they point at your forehead in these pandemic times. At bit cumbersome to point at individual components, but quite economic at around $20-$30 US.

Just inherited a GL502VM with complaints of BSODs over the years. First thing I did was repaste and clean everything. It seemed to work fine....except there were crashes and artifacting unless I underclocked the GPU. So for a couple weeks, my wife used it. Then it crashed. Crashed so hard that windows wouldn't boot. I've reinstalled Windows on both the HDD and the m.2, and it works...until setup after connecting to network. I've successfully booted into safe mode, and also once when there were missing drivers for the GPU. As soon as the GPU is enabled it crashes. Also unplugging the laptop results in immediate shutdown, battery is ignored. So, since it was intermittent before, could that be that it may be a power issue? Since it was free, I don't mind taking the Mobo completely out to troubleshoot components. Just hoping the GPU isn't the issue (Temps didn't go over 75C)
@veselinvasilev57393 жыл бұрын
Could the bad connector cause the shorted cap and mosfet, due to overcurrent caused by loose connection? I was once told that you should always plug charger into device first and then charger into socket, because the charger could cause damage to the power circuit if it has power while inserted it into device.
