Still don’t have my hands on it yet, as soon as I get it, I will get on it. I’m also excited to test it.

So based on your review and comments I bought this system I put the main in my basement with my modem and put the node upstairs on my second floor. I tried everything to get it working good and it wouldn’t. The best band was the 5g 2 band but I didn’t want any devices connected to the back haul band. Some of my devices were only one room away from the node and I had to not only force them to connect but it also said the signal was week even though the signal from main router to mesh node was “great” I already went back to my gt ax 6000 in the basement and my ax 86u on the second floor . Basically what I’m saying is my two good routers in ai mesh (duel band) routers worked better than this tri band system thst was supposed to be more powerful. I factory reset the gt6 over three times and the results were the same each time. I’m Not sure what to do now because I can’t back haul in my home I need wireless nodes

In wireless backhaul, I did have the 2nd 5GHz band as a dedicated backhaul which means it’s reserved just for wireless backhaul and devices can’t connect to it. Also check to see if WiFi 6 mode is enabled cause mine was. Channel selection was on auto and channel width was set to use up to the max 160. Optimal placement also matters. You’re mentioning basement and 2nd floor, any reason you’re skipping the first floor? The ideal setup is for the GT6 to be optimally placed relative to the other GT6. I would try these things first, see how that works and go from there. I retested the GT6 lately and it still is a fantastic router from the results I got.

@@landpet I thought if I put the main in my basement and the second one on the second floor that would give me better coverage but maybe that wasn’t the right call. I also thought they would be to close together. I’m also trying to not have a router on our main floor because it would be in our kitchen with Ethernet plugged into the wall and the wife would find that “ugly” but I do see the xt9 is on sale now for $350 Canadian and not as shocking looking lol and you also said that the differences in performance between the xt9 and the gt6 are marginal so maybe I’ll give that system a go a place the main on the main floor plugged into the wall Ethernet (that would connect to my modem in basement and the node on the second floor) Thanks again for your quick comments and reviews!

I live in a large 3 floors heavy concrete house. I cannot run wired backhaul so I was thinking of getting the Gt6 as a single unit which will be placed in my man cave for gaming purposes and two XD5 asus to cover the home with the other family members for general use purposes. is it better to have it this way to save money or run 2 units of GT6?

In my opinion, you need something more powerful than that. You need at least 3 GT6 imo. From the choices you listed, I would prob go with the 2 GT6.

Question so does it matter how much your mbps you original router runs because im looking to upgrade my service from 200mps to 1000mps but the original nighthawk router combo I have only runs 300mps max, do i need to buy a router? Or just upgrade my service? @Iandpet

If the hardware can't take it, you need to upgrade the hardware. If you are going to upgrade, i would suggest getting just a modem and getting a separate router like this ASUS for instance.
