✅ Free download RAM / SSD / HDD data recovery software: bit.ly/2zRpN9B INFO UPDATE: 1. HDD cable - If you bought Scar II without HDD and you can't find the HDD cable in the box or inside of the laptop, here you can buy one: tiny.cc/f3oo7y and HDD caddy here: bit.ly/2X9zXNn 2. HDD connector (motherboard) - On the back of the connector there is a little black tag that you should be able to tilt up carefully to easily slide the cable in and then push this tag down to fit the cable tight. 3. RAM - single channel RAM (1xstick) drastically decreases the performance of this laptop so if you can get it with dual channel RAM (2x stick) go for it or add one more RAM stick if you already have Scar II with single channel RAM. In some cases it's even 30% difference in performance! 4. For those who ask - Scar II and Hero II is exactly the same laptop with the only difference of transparent keys. "WSAD" for Scar and "QWER" for Hero. You can get Scar II with both RTX 2060 and 2070 (also GTX 1060 and 1070) while Hero comes with RTX 2060 or GTX 1060 to choose.

Hi, just upgraded mine. It came with no 2.5" drive (just 512gb SSD in PCI Express port, really fast btw), but with the screws to attach to caddy and cable in the box where the manuals are. I added 1 tb SSD WD Blue and 16gb Samsung DDR4 2666mhz (which I think it's the same brand the laptop have). Plugged everything in according to your instructions and worked just fine! Just one comment: when I added the SSD and I have to connect the SSD cable, it felt like it wasn't 'attached' to the motherboard (like there was no 'click'), but it got recongnized inmediatly by the PC. Another comment I have to make is that you have to manually added it to your PC: just hit the windows button on your keyboard, start writing 'partitions...', hit the shortcut you get and you may find the storage there, with the sign of 'unallocated'. Follow the steps and you are ready to go. Thanks Tech Finds! You encourage me to upgrade my device 😄 cheers

My GL504G came with a small plastic bag of parts with partition where the warranty documentation was in. Included in that bag was a SATA cable with a tiny ribbon. Under the chip based SSD there is a tiny HDD module that should have screen printing on it. I removed the SSD, since it was only one screw, because I could see the HDD module much easier with it out. When I initially slid the SATA ribbon in, it slid right back out. I thought it might need to go in upside, but that didn’t work either. That is when I noticed a small “lock bar” on the HDD module. You put the lock bar straight up, slide the SATA ribbon (terminals UP) into the HDD module, then slide the lock bar down (away from you) to lock the ribbon in place. Once you do that, installing the 2nd HDD is pretty easy. Remove the cage, install the HDD using the screws that came in the SATA ribbon package, connect the SATA, and screw the cage back in. You can find pics here: ibb.co/album/cpHbdv

You're right. There should be a little tag behind the HDD slot on the motherboard. You tilt it up, put the ribbon cable in and lose the tag. However it wasn't working in my case so I thought that it is not a moving part (the tag). Thanks for sharing!

@@oliverz9479 the SteelSeries one in MSI is better. Not only the lighting but it's nicer to the touch and feels better in general. But with Scar 2 you have dedicated buttons for volume, microphone off/on and co trol center app, while the MSI has only dedicated buttons for cooler boost and control center app.

Hi great video, it helped me install a hard drive but I now want to upgrade m2 slot ssd and the ones you've listed will not fit. As far as I know it has to be b&m slot and I think 2260 size. None of the ones you've listed have those specs. If you could update with the correct M2 slot SSD's that would be appreciated. Thank you.

Excellent guide. My ASUS ROG Strix only came with the stick SSD and no HDD. I followed this guide and I removed the factory SSD and I installed a Samsung EVO 860 SSD (1TB) in the hard drive bay. I booted up and all was perfect. Laptop ran great. Then the ASUS software said that I should update the BIOS firmware, so I did. BIOS updated fine BUT on reboot, the laptop entered the BIOS screen and in the "Boot Priority' section, there was nothing listed. The laptop does see the SSD because it's listed under "Storage". I thought that maybe the boot record got corrupt so I booted to my USB with Windows 10 (Nov Update) and re-installed Windows 10. Once finished, I removed the USB and it rebooted back into the BIOS again. Any idea's on what i can do?

What kind of ram do you recommend me for this laptop? Single channel o Dual channel???

Single channel is when you have only 1 RAM stick installed. If you add second stick you have dual channel. It's good to have 2 sticks. If you mix go for Crucial that i linked, because it has the same specs as your original RAM. If you wanna replace 2 sticks you can go for any RAM you like, of course if compatible with the laptop.

Very good video You can tell me which of the RAM is better because the Ballistix (by Crucial) to be better because it seems to have a genre of a mini refrigeration while the HyperX the only advantage I see is latency. Since you must have more experience than I would recommend more in relation to price, durability and performance
@TechFinds5 жыл бұрын
Few people reported that they had some problems with Ballistix RAM in this laptop. I mean they said it was working but the laptop could run it only at 2400MHz instead of 2666MHz. For the best compatibility I would recommend you to go for 2x the same sticks of HyperX or if you want to only add 1 RAM stick go for regular Crucial that I linked since it's the closest one to the stock RAM in terms of specs.

1.Why do you use a metallic screwdriver to disconnect the battery?you should never touch an electrical device motherboard contacts or any component using something made out of a material that can conduct electricity. 2.Any m.2 ssd is compatible with that type of slot,there is not a recommended ssd.for this laptop.He will accpet both the m.2 NVME ssd aand the older version that you are using in this video, the m.2 ssd with sata 3 speeds. 3.On a gaming laptop it would be better to get a 1 tb m.2 NVME than a 2 tb old sshd,or if you need space a 2.5 1 tb ssd and a 1 tb m.2,you will get amazing speeds and the price for a 1 tb 2.5 ssd is about 150 to 200 dollars,a 1 tb m.2 ssd with more than decent speeds is about 150-180 dollars. when you are talking about an 1500 dollars machine you cant get cheap on upgrades thats why a sshd would be something stupid to put in the amazing laptop.
