Never....and I repeat never do these type of repairs on a carpet surface. You are just asking to shock your internal part(s) for your device. You don't even need to feel it to have this happen and I'm sorry to say but once this happens, they never function the same again. They become very expenive paper weights because the device can never use them the same again. They are that sensitive. I also wouldn't use a heat gun to loosen the adhesive strips in back of the screen. If to much heat is applied, it can do more damage than good. The plastic can melt and fuse with the screen without warning. Those strips are designed to be removed without any heat gun at all. It just takes longer but is much safer. The amount of mistakes I see in this video in terms of the screen removal process is ALARMING! You see what I'm talking about if you watch the very end of it. The flickering of the new screen proves my point.
