This must be weird. But, I see that your GoPro cam blinks whenever you use Power supply probes to check Voltage on a board. it takes about 15 to 20 sec to freeze. Thats why your hands with probes are always on the frozen screen. I think that the Gopro or the power supply need an independent power socket. That happens because they seem to share the same power supply source. Im a bug fan by the way, but not a 7 min guy. if you see what I mean. keep up the good work. you are a repair Sensei. I wait for your new Vids everyday. I Like the Laugh sound you make when you fix something. hhhh Congrats from Morocco

Thanks so much for your very educational videos. Can i ask which pins you bridged on the Mosfet and also you mentioned the startup chip and I wondered there was an official name for it so I can look it up and read some mote about it. Many thanks, you're a lifesaver!

can someone explain why in 6:43 the drain and source is shorted
@vanguardspider6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great video . I have an Asus X504U laptop, it's dead . The first mosfet lined after power plug doesn't give voltage on one side. I removed it , shorted it , when shorting it gives a spark , even after shorting it with solder , now the plug doesn't give any voltage . Another thing , i couldn't find bios bin file that match the size (1024 kb) , only 8mb ! Any help sir ? Thanks in advance.

So happy you made this video. A friend recently gave me his damaged laptop same name and model. It is totaly dead he has bought a replacement power supply 19 volt but at 4.75 amp instead of 1.75 amp. do you think it will be worth my while to use a lower amp charger and follow tips in your repair video or is 4.75 amps ok . Thank you in advance for advice.
@pedrofilipeserra15824 жыл бұрын
you can use even a 20 AMP (if existed) if the mainboard ask for 1,75 it will use 1,75. never use a 19v power supply with lower amperage. it will burn the power supply
@agussalimbasri91366 жыл бұрын
if im not mistaken, you just remove the mosfet without replacing it?..am i right?

that was so good, you explain how to follow the 19v power rail, but how do you know with was the bios chip? do more videos with how to follow the power rails, thank you for sharing your wisdom with us!!!
@electronicsrepairschool7 жыл бұрын
Ok, i will
@Infiniti256 жыл бұрын
xose1984 it is a small black chip with 8 pins, sometimes it's close to the bios battery. On some motherboards the bios chip has a white silkscreen behind it and often has a plastic covering material to prevent shorts. If you are probing voltage with multimeter you should find 3-3.3v on one of the corner pins as you saw in this video.
@faresshaker77657 жыл бұрын
Thank you , if the problem was in the second mosfet would it be different approach because in a previous video you had put the power supply in the mosfet to find the short
@electronicsrepairschool7 жыл бұрын
Those mosfets are in serial mode on 19v power rail, so if are in short the laptop will should be working fine. The mosfets from swithcing power supply, yes, if they are in short you can find the quickly with the bench power supply.
@tanishqbhaiji1033 жыл бұрын
It’s freezing because the power adapter doesn’t have enough holdup time so the power supply is unstable , adding some bulk capacitors should fix it

Thank you Sir this video.. i have the same unit to repair problem is the board is shorted en mboard is tampered customer said he sent to asus service center but still not repair,,i have check all caps en mosfet the i remove one mosfet switch as you did yes there is 19v..but still shorted.. help pls..
@Marko_Djuricic6 жыл бұрын
Because the mosfet was not the problem. It switched off because there is short somewhere after that mosfet.. I don't know why he guessed that that mosfet was faulty.. Maybe he checked with the power supply before starting the video.. It's not the case with your motherboard as you can see.. or you soldered the gate and the drain together

How often do you find boards that have problems in their Embedded Controllers? Do you have a programmer for those chips or you buy them already programmed or take them from other dead boards?

they are not dying, just get frozen as they are always on even if the laptop its off or has a dead battery

I THINK THAT ALL THESE LATESTS MODELS ARE DONE AS CHEAPLY AS THESE LAPTOPS, BC THEIR MAIN FUNCTION IS TO SPY ON YOU, LIVE FEED DIRECTLY INTO THE NSA DATANASE. SO ALL THESE LATESTS MODELS ARE DONE CHEAPLY IN CHINA WITH CHEAP PARTS THAT ARE NOT MEANT TO LAST EVEN A FEW MONTHS, ACCORDING TO THE "WIRED" MAGAZINE, LOL.+ PLUS WHOEVER SOLD YOU THAT ASUS MODEL TV SCREEN PROBABLY DISABLED SOMETHING TO GIVE YOU A HARD TIME BC THEY'RE JEALOUS, LOL. MAYNE YOU SHOULD TAKE IT APART + FIX IT. MOST LIKELY THE MAIN REASON IN ADDITION TO BEING MADE CHEAPLY IN CHINA BC IT'S CHEAP LABOR IS THAT IT'S MAIN FUNCTION IS TO SPY ON YOU, WHICH PROBABLY BURNED IT'S CIRCUITS AS IT WAS VIDEO RECORDING YOU LIVE TO NSA+ THE CAPACITOR WAS LOOSE+ BURNED OUT, LOL.
