A pro tip, you can use an old soldering iron tip, to weld the broken plastic pieces together. I sometimes cut pieces of zip ties/cable ties for extra plastic ,to fuse the broken pieces together.

Erm, I can relate on how hot a soldering iron is. I started when I was 9-10 years old and wile my iron was still powered my mom came into my room with a vacuum cleaner. When she kneeled down do vacuum underneath my desk I noticed she got tangled on the wire and saw my iron coming off the desk aiming at her. In a quick reaction I grabbed it just before the iron hit her back but you guessed it, I was so quick that despite the iron falling down hot end down and trying to grab the handle or wire I had my hand wrapped around the heating element. Luckily it was short as I threw it away, only had a huge burn on my handpalm which subsided within a week and a half But more importantly I saved my mom from being burned. Great job reconstructing the broken connector!
