In the US, the Intel Core Ultra 9 variant is the only one available for purchase. I don't see a AMD version in the US. Also, I wonder if ASUS is planning to offer a "Flip" version. The Intel variant has all the ports I've been wanting and all at the perfect weight (2.8lbs.). Hopefully if they are planning a 360 hinge for the S 14, it doesn't add to the weight, or take away from the specs and ports.

What a nice laptop. I've recently been looking into a nice OLED laptop. ASUS, Lenovo and Samsung were my top picks. I ultimately settled down on the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 for the additional touchscreen/tablet usage. Certainly not as powerful as this laptop, but the thin design makes up for it.

Thank you for this review! I am trying to choose between the Vivobook S 16 M5606 16" OLED 3.2K Ryzen 9 32GB RAM 1TB and the Macbook Air M3 15" 24 GB of unified memory. I don't do any video editing or gaming on it. I was set to go with the Apple but I noticed they haven't improved their screen in years... I mean the retina display is ok, but only 60 Hz compared to the awesome ASUS OLED screen... I am now leaning more towards the ASUS, as it also has active cooling... did the laptop heat up during your regular use? Having slightly older VIVO OLED cheaper model.. can say 120hz will be awesome for general usage.. much smoother image.. My 60hz OLED is nice but not very fluid.. USB-C charging is a biggy! mine doesn't so i had to buy a powerbank with a wall outlet... This with an Anker battery with USB C charging much more compact and convenient. My other gripe was the battery life... not the greatest so it being easy to charge was needed. I was impressed by my Ryzen 5500U so anything above i reckon is pretty damn good. Keyboard, battery, screen is important to me and I cant find anything else thats as light as this. I hope the Ryzen model here gets the 32GB option, right now the info says up to 32GB but the pre order only leads to the 16GB Ryzen 7 model.

If it's as good as this 14" model it's all top notch very good keyboard with 1.7mm of travel. Nice key feel not too shallow doesn't feel cheap the keys or the touchpad. The only minor is the power button location as mentioned and the half sized arrow keys. More space with the 16 inch version build is very solid and premium no flex and give. Mental reinforcement inside as shown. Go for the 32GB version of you plan to use 3d apps, game or video edit. As the 780M loves a dedicated RAM allocation of 6-8GB of RAM.

I have the 16" version with the Ryzen chip, it also comes with an Intel option for $100 more if you want Thunderbolt ports. So far I love it, beautiful & capable machine for $999. When I ordered it from Asus, it only came with 16GB RAM with a 32GB capability, but not pre-installed. BTW the ASUS specs at the time were vague, it appeared that the Intel version maxxed out at 16GB but I wasn't going to get that anyway so I didn't follow up with Asus to see if that was just a listing error.

@@tinetannies4637 Hi there! How is your new laptop doing battery wise? On their site Asus claims that it can last up to 14 hours. If it would last half of that during normal usage I would be extremely happy. Also how is the heat handled by the cooling system, does it get really warm or loud?
@tinetannies46374 ай бұрын
@@Slimbk13That 14 hour claim is fantasy. Maybe.... maybe.... you could get 14 hours with the screen turned all the way down and all you're doing is listening to Spotify. But if you're doing any sort of processor intensive activity, and your screen is actually halfway lit, you're looking at 4 hours. The battery claims are borderline lies. Heat is actually well managed, though, and the fans don't kick in much and aren't louder than average. Overall, I'm happy so far. The screen is gorgeous, the keyboard and track pad are great - again, keep in mind it's a laptop keyboard - and the build quality is top notch. One minor quirk I've noticed is the battery protection setting that automatically caps charging at 80% doesn't remember that setting and reverts to 100% charge after the device sleeps for an extended period. A small thing but if you keep the laptop plugged in you should keep an eye on this.
