Thanks for this video. Today I replaced the charging port on my other Asus by following this video. I even used the hot air gun correctly for the first time out of the box. Thank you.

Heat gun DOES help alot. Here's my technique; I use the hot air gun to heat the port, and connections. They melt all at once, use tweezers to remove. Now, here's the cool part. Tin the connectors on the replacement port FIRST, use a little exta so theres a tiny globule of solder at the tip of each connector. Next tin the board connections. Clean the board connectors wilth the soldering iron, apply flux to the board connections, and drag a globule of solder across all 5 spots. Now they're tinned. The cool part about doing the replacement port first, is now you an just lightly clamp the connector in place, and use the hot air gun to heat the port (the same as during removal), all of the connectors will melt simulteneously, and the excess solder on the replacement port will instantly solder all 5 connections. Saving you the trouble of microsoldering all 5 connectors yourself. I own several Asus tablets, and do all of the work on them myself. If your interested just respond to this, and I'll post a couple pics. And any questions, feel free. L8r boss....

I am interested. I have a heat gun which I bought for a nintendo switch charging port repair, similar to this but also found it very difficult to melt the solder with the heat gun turned up to max. Can you advise what solder you are using as mines is mainly used for joining wires etc so would like to get what is used for circuit boards.

Hello everyone! Thank you for this very clear video! I also have a problem with this tablet, it doesn't light up at all and as I want to know if it's coming from this connector or from the battery I would like to know a sure way. The tablet hasn't been turned on for a while. It belonged to my girlfriend and she tells me that this problem appeared suddenly before I knew her so I have a big doubt about this connector but i want to test it before buying a battery

Пожалуйста, сделайте заставку в начале видео ещё длиннее. Можно 10 минут. Мне так нравится на неё смотреть.

I'm attempting to fix the same issue for the first time. What's that jelly stuff you applied and heated? I tried using a soldering iron to remove the port but it's not working out lol

These are very good tablets actually, on mine i had to take the back off to re-seat the battery terminal as the charging circuit became unresponsive, after doing this works perfect.

Can you be more specific, please, as I understand it, you unplugged and plugged the connector back in, didn't you?

It's just that easy. I do repairs on a lot of peoples devices, and they're always so surprised I can work on tablets. I always tell them "watch a few tutorials on KZbin, and invest in a few basic tools and materials, and it's not that hard," but no one ever takes the initiative. Doing stuff like this will be nothin' to our grandchildren. Teenagers will build stuff like this, for gaming, or browsing. Probably be building high end ' gaming tablets, to use in VR applications... but I digress. Point is, there are tons of still totally useable, good performing tablets out there. Research what has the features, and specs you need for your application, buy two cheap, broken ones, and build it yourself. Saves money, and doesn't let good computers go to waste. Hell, in 30 years, people will probably be restoring, and collecting 'vintage' devices, like an Apple Air 2 they had as a kid, or what not. Good work keeping that Z10 on the road. I liked the Zenpad 3s M better, but the 10 does have the octacore, but they're STILL, in 2021, good computers...

what is the name of the glue please ?
@dazzekielc51086 жыл бұрын
its flux it flows into the part to allow heat to spread properly.
@Dochirin6 жыл бұрын
It isn't a glue, it's flux.
@nigelm.steele93295 жыл бұрын
The flux has a weak acid in it which cleans the metal area that the solder bonds to in this case the copper printed on the circuit board.
