My interest in asymmetrical surfboards was seriously awakened by watching Josh Kerr and Mike February on twins at J Bay during the WSL Speciality Event held at J Bay this year. I was also so impressed by Bryce Young and company surfing some very alternate surfboards at J Bay this year. The speed these guys were generating was mind blowing. As an older surfer speed is one of the things that we struggle to generate as we age and slow down.
That slowing down started me on a quest to try different equipment and when Mike Ginsberg got me onto a Firewire Mash-up, it was the catalyst that fanned the flames and made me change the equipment that I am riding.
Come along on the journey as I explain my thinking and try to find that magic board for us older generation as we go down the rabbit hole of the asymmetric design..

What an amazing visit. Grew up with these boards and seeing those old logos on boards was really something; the kinda thing I'd draw on my pee-chee back in the day. I could listen to these stories all day long about each and every one. Well done, Trevor. Cheers for the trip down memory lane!

I'm glad you are back. Miss you videos. Erosion happens everywhere. Sucks. I've seen it ravaged the Malibu Coastline over 61 years.

look at all those toys! it's impressive youre still on short boards at your age. i dare you to give some longer boards a try. once you get used to not having to wiggle constantly for speed you can relax and enjoy the ride, and still lay down big turns.

@@oceanadventures365 die hard shortboard shredder! 😁 i've found around 6'6" to be a sweetspot for paddle and maneuverability. a wide tail twin or quad with a straight-ish rail off the tail. what you lose in pivot you gain way more in easy speed and carve power. lekker! ps you can always jump back on the shred stick if you're in a frisky mood.

I had some mates back in the early/mid 80s who were making boards here in South Australia called Port Town. Couple of those lads were real good surfers
