At just 26 years old, Janai made the bold decision to leave the U.S. and move to Ghana-alone. While some admired her courage, others thought she was crazy and worried about her safety. “Why not Paris or Greece?” they asked. But Janai had a different vision for her life.
Six months in Ghana has completely transformed her perspective. She left behind the American grind, where her options felt limited, and discovered a world of possibilities she never imagined.
Janai’s journey is a reminder that stepping out of your comfort zone could be the key to finding freedom and purpose.
✨ What’s holding you back from living the life of your dreams? Let her story inspire your next move.

Entertaining and also, informative about travelling safely to Ghana at an early age. I hope many young adults born in the diaspora get inspired by Janai's story, to step out of their comfort zones in an equally prudent way while that young and experience the healing and release which Sub-Sahara has to offer them. 🎉

@@kanti8942 GOBE is not an EWE name. In fact, that term was created way back at the University (KNUST) as an acronym. The real meaning of GOBE is Gari, Oil, Beans and Egg.

Red Red is different from Gobe. 1. RedRed=Ripe plantain + beans in red sauce....Simple. 2. GOBE = Garri, Oil, Beans+ Egg. Two different dishes.

I want to visit the Motherland, specifically Accra Ghana. I'm an Army Veteran and have a fear of flying even though I was stationed in Germany in the 1980's. I went on a Cruise to Nassau Bahamas and CocoCay and had to fly to FLA, but flying across the Atlantic and passing Europe to Alkebulan is much longer. I have a passport that needs to be updated before the end of year, but I need to know what I need to do to prepare for a trip there if I want to go this year. This is the 1st one on my "Bucket List."

I commend your family for 'planting' Africa in your heart very early. You will do wel better as time progresses and I bet you, the discrimination that most of AA bro and sis face when they prefer visiting or settling in predominantly white dominated countries is not for you in Ghana. To succeed in life, you must take a risk and get out of your comfort zone. I came to America at the age of 21 to attend university. I knew nobody, I roughed it out; earned two master's degrees and secured a job. I made some money and started investing in Africa. I am happy for doing so and it has gotten better. Africa is the way to go. God bless you my sister and good luck. You are very prudent and equipped with the right mindset.

If you have a really good business, as an entrepreneur you can earn faster in US dollar equivalent than you can ever earn in USA. With your American connection, and American passport, you can study the markets in Ghana to know what products are in shortage and bring them over to sell. Conversely you can source products in Ghana that are very cheap but sell expensively in America. Cashew nut is a product that comes to mind. I go to a bulk food store here, and they sell cashew for $19/Lb

If your DNA shows Ghana and Ivory Coast link, then you have Ashanti ancestry. Those I'm sure mostly refers to Baoule in Ivory Coast and Ashanti in Ghana. Baoules are Ashantis that left to settle in Ivory Coast because of a succession disagreement after the passing of the first Ashanti King
