Well can you blame them those clones are looking at Imperial Walkers while the one they're in is an AT-TE a relic from the Clone Wars and was the precursor to the AT-AT as both machines were designed and built by the same company.

This is a great example of knowing ones own strengths and weaknesses and the enemies strengths and weaknesses and how to turn a "loosing" or "lost fight" into a draw or level the odds to make you have the advantage. Soviets did this in ww2 vs germany, the soviets desided they would smash their line right onto the german line so that if the germans wanted to use artillery they would have to shell their own men.

You can see in Empire Strikes Back that the Empire learned from this battle, they increased the main firepower of the AT-AT after seeing it couldn’t adequately knock out a vehicle decades older than it, they increased the side armor to protect against smaller aircraft, and they lowered the overall height to increase stability.

In every occasion they were both represented, AT-AT was shown to be far stronger, many times use when the AT-TE was not able to do it. (But yeah I still prefer AT-TE^^). @@codymorris6702 From a certain viewpoint this makes sense. The Empire is widely known for their ego, their overconfidence and impractical weapons and use of resources. They probably felt confident in destroying an old relic from a bygone era with their new, big and shiny machines. The AT-TE was also known to be extremely well armored, with the legs and underbelly being the exception. But all the hits it took were to the armor plates. Also, the guy above COULD be right, as these AT-AT's look different than the ones featured in the films and other media.

My favorite is that the clones taking on the AT-ATs showed that they were playing with more firepower in the clone wars and the Empires walkers were all show. The CIS hover tanks would sometimes kill an AT-TE in one hit yet the AT-ATs couldn't even completely kill an aged and degrading AT-TE with blaster fire.

Helps these ones are probably prototypes compared to the ones from battle of hoth
@Brodrich
@Brodrich Жыл бұрын
@@Kyle-gu3ge I will admit the ones from the battle of hoth had better shielding as in a later episode of rebels an AT-AT is disabled with a single rocket to the leg HOWEVER the armour is still worse than the clone walker as in episode 5 getting tripped is enough to disable the shields and then the speeders could blast through the armour in a few shots like it was made of paper. And we haven't seen these walkers show any less firepower than the ones in episode 5 so we can't say for sure in that regard. So better tech (shields) but worse armour than the clone walkers had. Also the AT-AT have almost always been more for intimidation than actual siege due to their high cost, low durability, low mobility, and being a REALLY big target. Only places they are good for is deep marshes/snow/water because they have the height to keep out of it but you might as well use a speeder at that point.

Just watching and listening to the clones not only admire the Imperial Walkers but also go on to talk about the legs as asked 'How many legs they got' 'It looks like 4' '4 How come they're not falling over' it's like the clones can see the structural weakspots of the All Terrain Armored Transports rather easily and would also be exploited by the Rebels a lot like during the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Jakkuu.

Actually, the AT-AT is definitely the wrong acronym. It should be the NT-AT for No-Terrain-Attack-Tower. Because once it is deposited it would sink into the ground at the very first step, right up to its knee joints. Surface pressure, baby, is a real bitch, especially in anything walking. Us Germans found that out with the Maus tank which weighed around a mere 180 tons and had ultra wide tracks underneath a good 30% of is tank width. It was able to achieve a top speed of around 6km per hour on reinforced concrete. In ANY kind of softer terrain it quickly churned up the ground to become bogged down. An AT-AT is MUCH heavier and places its weight alternatively on different spots with each step which are all significantly smaller in comparison to the Maus' treads proportionately. So after the first step the 'walker' becomes a 'stander', ot in military terms, an immobile target deserving to be flanked as it has no ability to bring its firepower to bear on anything outside the front 90 degree arc. Make it the dumbest transport in history.

A mix of AT-AT, AT-PT and AT-ST, with some anti-air units was all that I needed, sometimes a few DarkTroopers Phase 2 added to the mix. I had to invest a lot earlier in defense and booming the economy but when I reached the peak of power... not even the Jedi or traitor Sith that played against me could withstand the might of the Empire technology advance. In regards to the ATTE's gun not penetrating the ATAT's armor, I figured it has to do with the nature of the gun itself. The gun is a mass driver, not a blaster cannon, meaning it usually fires a physical shell that is coated in plasma as it leaves the barrel. Given how old this one was, it had likely run out of shells a long time ago and was down to just firing plasma, which, as we know from Empire, "that armor's too strong for blasters". As for why the ATAT's own guns can damage the armor, firstly: they are newer and likely more powerful models than what that ATTE is packing, and second: despite Kanan and Zeb unloading on that other ATAT, it really only causes minor damage to the hull, a bit of spall and some melted plating but the vehicle really isn't crippled until that neck shot by Rex.

For some reason it always bothered that they can just cut through an entire AT-AT's leg with a lightsaber. I found it hard to believe that an AT-AT's leg is that thin, and then i think back to Empire Strikes Back, well why didn't Luke use his lightsaber to cut through an AT-AT's leg instead of cutting a hole in it's underbelly to toss a bomb in?

Live actions vs animation mostly. Animation is a lot more fluid in making the impossible possible because animation is still 2D artwork no matter how 3D you try to make it. Also it doesn't help the original AT-AT's were actually miniature sculpture/puppets back in the day. Mark Hamill was actually running on open ground, so he had no idea where the legs would eventually be. So he'd have no idea where to even swing the lightsaber.

possibly because he did not think to do that? even though, by the time of Battle of Hoth occurred, Luke was far better trained than when he was at the Battle of Yavin, he still had not learned to fully seperate himself from his emotions. so, he may not have considered it an option. on top of that, he HAD only just escaped from becoming Wampa lunch, and being frozen to death only hours previously, whereas the jedi here were very much fully healthy, so, despite the bath he took hours previous, I can imagine there was some soreness. also, the I don't care if the force is helping, Hoth is still cold, so that can affect ones ability to function, Luke had just crashed his speeder, lost a friend in said speeder, narrowly avoiding being crushed by a walker.

If we're going with a lore-wise explanation, remember that blast doors can take an eternity to cut through, even with a lightsaber. I'm guessing the later AT-AT models (the Galactic Civil War model seen in ESB and ROTJ) used a similar method of reinforcement for their legs and joints Edit: something else worth noting is that AT-ATs are shielded. The immense punishment from the Ghost's four proton torpedoes might have been enough to permanently put its shields offline, allowing Kanan to cut through the exposed legs

What I don't understand in this scene, that why would the Empire send AT-AT to chase a moving object, instead of sending in TIE fighters/bombers?

I originally thought the AT-ATs from Rebels were different just because of design preferences, but it turns out these AT-ATs are entirely canonically different models than from the live action ones

AT-ATs are certainly good, but DROPPING them from dozens of metres up?! Those things must weigh several tons, doing that would either make the walker topple, damage it severely, or both. They are literally designed as walking fortresses, you would have to deploy them carefully.

Funny how Star Wars uses their own language, except when abbreviations are concerned. Then suddenly they have a complete understanding of English and the Roman alphabet.

Im honestly surprised the republic walker's cannon wasn't able to penetrate the atat's armor. Like yeah they are uparmored, but AT-TE cannons have damaged separatist crusiers in space, your telling me an imperal walker has more armor than a cruiser class starship 100x it's size?

Anyone ever play Star Wars: Empire at War? No matter how many times I’ve played it over the years, I can never bring myself to play as the rebellion. Long live the Empire! And if it is after the Empire during the warlord period, Glory to the Greater Maldrood!

The one thing that annoyed me with the AT-TE fight is that they only used the main cannon, whereas it has 4 blasters on the front for extra firepower which are barely ever used in the series
