Hardcore akrk shipper here. Went through the whole KH series for the first time a couple months ago (I'm super late to the party, I know). I love these lyrics sooo much they're so perfect. You've given me the image of Axel going to the clocktower alone to eat ice cream during the time Roxas was inside Sora and falling asleep up there once and dreaming that Roxas was by his side, and then waking up and realizing it was just a dream. From what I can tell in BBS, Isa the human was a stone-faced guy with good intentions. When you take that and translate that into a Nobody, it's not that hard to see how you'd get an asshole, whereas Lea is a lot more expressive so Axel had more to go off of. In DDD it's said that Nobodies grow hearts over time, so the two of them spent like eight or nine years with neither of them having any will to continue their friendship. All of a sudden they both start to be able to feel feelings again, but now Axel has new friends and they haven't been friends for so long trying to fix their friendship would be really awkward. Also this is happening way slower for Saix so he hasn't gotten the feeling that tells you not to kill people to get your friends back yet.

Maybe it's stating the obvious, but I think the reason this song and Axel's story resonates so deeply is because we've all lost someone (and likely more than one). Whether they be a friend, family member, lover, or even a pet, to live is to know loss. It doesn't necessarily have to be by death, either, you can also mourn the loss of someone due to moving, breaking up, or simply drifting apart. I miss my old friends from childhood and adolescence, whom I don't talk to much or at all anymore and have drifted apart from. I miss a family friend that was more of a grandmother to me than either of my real grandmothers (may she rest in peace). I miss all the pets that I've had and that've sadly passed away because animals (with a few exceptions) don't live as long as humans do. I still think of them all from time to time, and I pray someday we will be reunited in a place where time, distance, and death do not exist. You never know what you have until it's gone, so cherish your loved ones as much as possible for the duration of time you are with them. And don't be like me and allow relationships to wither because you failed to make frequent enough contact.

Simply wonderful, I just recently finally got my copy of the 1.5 remix, and have been playing through all my games again. All your renditions of these songs are definitely within my playlists to listen to while running between cutscene sections. I hope for Axel/Lea's sake that we somehow get Roxas and Xion back, they teased us with both in Dream Drop Distance, and by far the little trio from 358/2 days is my favorite group of characters throughout the whole series. I adore this, because even if you don't ship it you can still admire the close bond the two characters have, and this just makes my heart hurt thinking that they were so close and are separated. I personally don't care about gender, I love Axel/Roxas because they have good chemistry, and this song just reminds me why I love them and the game. Wonderful job. ;w;
