I’m new to rowing and have been focusing on mechanics instead of an actual workout. A surprise to me is how doing the two minute catch holds has made my lower back pain feel significantly better. It has exposed that I have weak erectors. My plan is spend a few weeks on mechanics before actually doing cardio workouts. Thanks for the videos!

I reference your videos so much! Thank you! I was a runner for many years and cant do it anymore because of foot problem. (Need surgery and don't want to do it so rowing is now my new thing)

Really liking this series Shane. I think some of these drills would work really well during warm-up in your main videos. Keep up the great work. Can't wait for more. 🖤

This is a really good drill because this is where I think I'm rushing things. I'm a new rower (8 days with a Hydrow) and these videos have been great for me in learning what good form is all about. Thanks Shane~!!

Glad it was helpful! Love that you're using a Hydrow and still coming to join me here. Proof that any machine works for what we're doing together.

@@DarkHorseRowing Absolutely~!! I've actually done a few rows using the instructor-less videos so I can have one of your videos running on my laptop to help my form/technique. I'm definitely planning to do more of the same in order to do some of your workout challenges. Great stuff~!!

Shane, I've been watching your videos religiously to improve my form as I am just getting back into rowing again. I'm using a water rower but your videos are still very beneficial. Thank you for what you do!

QQ - can you show an effort / power chart to show how much force should be applied at each stage of the row cycle? Would be great to know the ideal ratio of force at each stage for each main body part.

Thanks for your detailed explanation. I have a question: I saw in another beginner video that the coach while moving to the front end, his arms goes down and is very close to the knees. He said that it is better for getting sure that we relax while moving to the front end. I see in your video that you are not teaching it like him. So is he wrong or is it another technique?

Question: when I row I have a big ass fan set up. I noticed when I'm setting up to row, the airflow blows the flywheel around. Does that have any affect on the actual rowing? Thanks as always.
@DarkHorseRowing
@DarkHorseRowing 2 жыл бұрын
It does actually. Any outside air driven in to the flywheel can artificially adjust the drag factor. It just depends on how MUCH air is making it in.

Shane! Did you get rid off your Hydrow rower!?? I’m getting a used rower today deciding between a Concept 2 or Hydrow … But I think I’m going with the C2
@DarkHorseRowing
@DarkHorseRowing 2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t! I just don’t have enough space to have it around in the shots but I promise it’s still there.
