Except the kick drum. Neil's kick was very subdued and dead during this period (recorded and live) and you notice it at the part starting at 2:56 where this kick is very boomy and it almost doesn't sound right even though it's being played correctly. I remember that's why all my friends growing up back then used dead ringers and loads of pillow in their bass drums. Their bass drums were deader than a Lars Ulrich snare.

I just discovered this video. Such a great idea and well played! As a 10-11 year-old kid discovering Rush and seeing the videos for 'Tom Sawyer' and 'Vital Signs' back in the day on MTV that were shot there at LeStudio and reading on the album covers of Moving Pictures and Permanent Waves were recorded there, I always dreamed what it was like there. It's quite breathtaking knowing what was created and recorded in those walls. Watching the 'Tom Sawyer' music video and seeing the snowy landscape outside those huge windows gives an even more stunning effect. In my 53 years on earth, the passing of the Professor was the one and only artist that truly made me break down and sincerely mourn. He had it all- style, thoughtful, Uber-literate and is THE most influential rock drummer that made young teen kids, like me at the time, pick up the kit and dream big. I did end up having a pretty successful career playing and it seems now in 2023, he's influencing me, as so many others, even more. Peart and the boys are a class act. Well done, brother!!

It's so sad what has become of LeStudio. I used to love the videos Rush made there and when I found out all the other Legendary acts that recorded there, all of which I loved while growing up, I was astounded to think that this icon of a studio was just falling into disrepair and now signs of vandalism. I often thought of buying the place and restoring it during my life, if I ever could come up with the money. I now know that there were efforts under way to do just that, but then the vandalism put a nix on that idea I guess. I so wanted to bring my band and record there. So there it sits. Not sure if there is still a hope, but would be nice to see it come to life again. That said, I want to thank you Denis for making this video and sparking some life once more into those hallowed halls. You ROCK! :)

Yup, I smiled when I saw the setup, and laughed when he started to play it, the look on his face was "yeah, I know, but it works", and it did.

This was inspiring and amazing as a performance. Thanks for taking the time to chase your nostalgic sentimental dreams! We need more of this these days

The REAL reason that room is so magical is that there are not all that many right angles for standing sound waves to fester. A truly magical studio in a beautiful location.

+Pils Nrimgaard Right indeed Pils. this place acoustic's are amazing. it is actually shaped like a square speaker cone form where I was playing. Meaning from small to bigger space. I wish I had another mike to pick up the room sound. helas I was out of mics once the drum and toy xylophone were done. But still sounds good. Cheers!

You sir, are a gentlemen and a cowboy! What an absolutely brilliant and touching tribute to Rush's Spirit of Radio and to Le Studio. This video is a result of love and courage and you can't get any more honest than that. Well done!

Thank you canukland! I just had a feeling this place would sadly not live much longer. Thank good I followed that instinct. My drums never sounded as good as they did in that room. Sad... Cheers!
