At least 10 dead in worst mass shooting in Sweden’s history | BBC News

Swedish police have said at least 10 people have been killed and five others wounded in a campus shooting in the city of Örebro
Police said investigating officers were in the process of identifying victims. They believe that a man they said was the “primary perpetrator” of the attack was among the dead.
The authorities said there was no warning of the attack which took place on a campus housing an adult education centre. They believe the gunman was acting alone. His motive is unknown but is not believed to be terror-related.

@@KazMoneyMusic I still think that this is a massive blow and a call to the society, that something isn't working as it should. Apparently from what I read this guy was on social-wellfare, but they decided to withdraw his financial aid, because he had not actively been looking for jobs as I understood it. He had been unemployed for 10 years. I don't know why the reason behind that is. Usually, its looked down upon to live on welfare and not work as a swede, if you are able to do so. Perphaps he had such severe mental health problems he could not work, but then he should have been on sick benefits, not the standard unemployed benefits. Although police can not see an indication on it being racial motives, because there has been no notes on the motive, they only had information that he had been denied welfare money and was in some kind of feud with with the social-welfare board. Although the educational institution he chose to target, seems to be one where a lot of people of foreign background studies, from what I've seen. So, in my own personal opinion its very likely race could have been involved, especially considering he got denied benefits, while many people of immigrant background, are known by many swedes "to live" on welfare and get money thrown left and right at them, by the state. Maybe that's what he was thinking; "If these immigrant people can get benefits while studying but I can not, I will make sure what you're doing isn't right".

@@KazMoneyMusic The feeling of being ostracized and on top of that not having any money to provide yourself on and also dealing with some likely mental health problems, could definitely lead to extreme outcomes. I don't know if the guy ever sought help for his mental health, but if he did all those things, I would say a big part of why this happened has to be in the hands of how society treats marginalized individuals like that. I know from my own experience that it can be like shit. However, its never a justified action to take the life of an innocent being, that had nothing to do with his particular problem. That guy should have gotten the help he needed and this would not have happened. That we have people with no money or that have to turn to the streets, and go to sleep somewhere outside in the cold, with no food in their stomachs, is an absolute disgrace, considering how rich of a country Sweden is, and that our system is build on solidarity, that all should be able to have food and a home.

This school is for adults to complete unfulfilled educations, add needed grades for job opportunities, or for immigrants to learn Swedish. The ages, nationalities, and backgrounds are very different, so it seems like there was no motive of a specific target. At the moment, we do not know much about the case, Sweden police operates like this. Sometimes, the public never finds out details about the incident, why I don't know, but it was similar when the truck drove into Drottninggatan in Stockholm a few years ago, barely any information although. Same about our gang criminal rating. They leave us in the dark, and that is what I hate most about my country and media. They force us to be ignorant, Sweden has gone downhill for years... When I was a child, I walked to school alone. Now, I contemplate walking to the store or not as an adult. Things have changed, and everyone just ignores them and pretends it hasn't. TLDR, mostly due to gang violence and lax gun laws although dunno if this has anything to do with the gangs tbh. The longer version is that the gang violence is largely from people of immigrant backgrounds cos previously they had a very liberal immigration policy but couldn't provide jobs and education for everyone they let in (and rarely performed background checks) so there are just communities of unemployed immigrants in many Swedish urban areas who have turned to crime as a result and taken advantage of Sweden's lax gun laws which, until recently, hadn't caused a problem
