At Narsingh Ghat in Hatpipliya, the Dol Gyaras festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm. On this auspicious occasion, the miraculous 7.5 kg stone idol of Lord Narsingh was floated in the Bhamori River. As soon as the idol began to float on the surface of the water, the atmosphere was filled with chants of "Jai Narsingh" by thousands of devotees who had gathered to witness this divine event.
The head priest of the Narsingh Temple, Pandit Ramesh Vaishnav, initiated the ritual by sprinkling Ganga water in the river, thus purifying it, and offering sacred food (Naivedya) into the water. After offering flower garlands, the priest placed the stone idol on the surface of the water, and to everyone’s amazement, the idol floated.
For the first time, the idol floated for a considerable distance. This was followed by a second and third floating of the idol. It is a common belief that if the idol floats three times, the coming year will be filled with prosperity and happiness.
Prior to this, the stone idol of Lord Narsingh was placed in the temple after the recitation of the Lord’s birth story, followed by an Aarti (ritual of worship). All the temple processions gathered at Dr. Mukherjee Chowk, where a grand procession was initiated with bands and akhada performances (traditional martial arts).
Artists from Shri Ram Vyayamshala, Jai Shiv Vyayamshala, and Bajrang Vyayamshala performed breathtaking stunts, adding to the grandeur of the event.
The Dol Gyaras celebration at Narsingh Ghat in Hatpipliya was a reflection of deep devotion, and the sight of the floating idol of Lord Narsingh left the devotees spellbound.
