Interesting video with three important messages. First, photography, like so much else, requires adapting to what's out there even when what's out there is far from ideal. Second, learn from every experience. Third, keep your camera out and walk. BTW, some very nice night pictures.

This video brings back so many good memories when I was in Thailand...sheesh, 3 years ago now. We stopped and ate at that Artisans Burger place and the food was sooo good. We also stopped at that bar/restaurant that had the trees on the balcony. This video just solidified that I need to go back. Great video as always Joe!

Great vlog, as usually, Joe! I loved seeing into an evening that you didn’t find as successful as others, even though from a viewer perspective it seemed awesome haha! Looking forward to the next one!

Always enjoy watching you on a photo walk, so relaxing. Personally, that is why I try to come back to do more photo walks. More often I came back with nothing, getting lost in ideas or plans on what I wanted to shoot, but then that is just the way it is, part of the deal when we walk the streets was mostly gone out of what we could plan in the beginning. look forward to more of your Asian streets series walks. Cheers.

I love Fuji gear but do miss the low light capabilities of full frame. Is there a reason you haven’t gone for the updated 1.4 Fuji primes? Weight perhaps? I really feel like the lineup is missing a 35mm (50 equiv) f1:2 lens.

You are so right about walking a city. Last November when we were in Manila I was having a crap night getting any shots and we decided to go back to our air bnb and we got to the metro station . I did not put my camera away and in the metro, on the train and the area where we got off the train I got some of the best shots ever. You are right. Don't put your camera way , walk the city and be open to what you may find.

Hey Joe, great video, thanks for sharing. Quick tip though, once you're ready to rewind the film, you must first press the release button (normally on the base plate) before winding. That will release the take up spool and avoid that nasty tear happening again. Best of luck with more film work!

Wow, that photograph with the railway tracks at 3:52 looks amazing! And the crossroads video around 7:00 is just awesome. I understand that you were not happy with the way this walk turned out, but I am glad you finished the video anyway :)

Thanks, Volker! It's always tough when momentum feels like it's slipping away at the time of filming, but it always proves that there's still a story to tell when it comes to editing it together afterwards. I just have to keep that in mind more often when out filming things. Glad you liked the shots!

Hey there, I am new to your channel, and I don't even know if you will see this comment! This probably is a really random ask, but do you ever host live sessions/streams with live Q+A. I really like your style and how you explain things and would love the chance to ask questions as you go!

Would love to know what you do with the photos you take. Do you sell them? Are these more for marketing, to get product shoots or something like this? Or perhaps you have another job and this is just a hobby? Its just a hobby for me, curious what the next step is.

Yeah, you kind of picked a less lively (more business oriented, and not very active after business hours) section of central Bangkok, and then wound up at Nana which... Well, anyway... Seems you kept returning to shots taken at the Sukhumvit-Asok intersection, which is where things pick up again along that route. There used to be lots of sidewalk vendors between Asoke and Nana, but they were chased away by attempts to "modernise", AKA become a boring city like the ones we escaped to live here instead. The first time I came to Thailand you used to see elephants there! It is also still quite quiet, the tourists haven't come flooding back yet.

Yeah, it's a shame that it didn't quite work out as planned. On paper, it felt like the area had all the right assets to make for a great evening, but in the end it just felt like it had the wrong character. Interestingly, a lot of the footage from Asok interchange was actually from different nights, as we were staying nearby and passing each day. I added it in to help "beef" up the vlog a bit more, as by the end of the evening I'd lost momentum with things. I'm glad the footage didn't go to waste though!
