There were many children brought to the area I live in, in Canada… Those children were sold into basic slavery to work on farms, I read a book years ago about this and found it just disgusting what those poor children went through thinking they were going to have a better life in Ontario Canada😔😫

I am sick to the core of my being. I lived in Greenock which was not far from Quarriers Homes, we thought the children there were well looked after. My Aunt, who, as a young woman in the 1920's/ 30's was a House Mother in one of the Cottages for a short period of time, if she had known any of this she would have done something. No one heard a thing about abuse going on, it was well and truly hidden and covered up, all those deaths were never heard about in the Community, we all thought the children were well cared for and loved by dedicated people devoting their lives to a calling of caring for others. I am so shocked and upset by this. Just look at those graves and no enquiry whatsoever into this or how those little souls died, what can we do to bring this to light?

Horrendous abuse went on by nuns etc. The orphanage closed many years ago but there is still a monastery. I had heard stories of babies buried up there, and now I think its true. There are peoples stories of the abuse they suffered available to see on the net

I was in Quarrier's from 1960 till 1965...Cottage 34. I now live in America but have both fond and terrible memories of my time in the homes. Cottage 34, at that time, was fortunate to have decent Home parents, Mr. and Mrs. Young. The problems came when they would leave on holiday and we'd have a substitute parents - mainly from other Cottages. There are stories to tell. My most fondest memories are the time I spent with the other boys in my cottage.

I think that Quarriers Children's Home had a plaque saying that 362 children died there. Sandy and Jane are good people.

My young brother and I were put in here after our parent's breakup. We were here from the beginning of January 1946 till we left on 23rd October 1954. We were put in the collection home No30 for two weeks then sent to No 22 for two years, then No 40 for the remainder of our time. We did suffer abuse in the early days in No 22 especially my brother who was only 4. We were relatively ok when we moved to No 40 where two sets of reasonable House parents looked after us. Some children suffered a lot more than us. We got over it all eventually when we left to go into the big world, though it was scary not knowing anything else. We have both made a success of our lives despite the trauma and memories. Those who really suffered, rest in peace.

I so wish I could go back and regularly visit these children, just to hold them in my arms! I'm completely heart 💔 broken and sick to my stomach over what happened! I wish I could just love all the children who are going through this same type of abuse today and hold them and keep them from ever going through the hell they go through. Jon you said how come there is not a march of remembrance for all the fallen children you and all the teams can choose a day plan it well in advance advertise widely as possible. When i was 5 years old my father took me from my mother with her conscent, to live with him and his new wife. It quickly bacame apparent to me that she took an instant dislike to me, more like hatered. She had four children of her own. Anyway the abuse started off almost immediately making me stand in the corner of the room facing the wall for absolutely no reason that a five year old child would understand anyway. The days went on with low level mental abuse, well to a five year old boy it was devastating. My father was a long distant driver so all this abuse took place when he was out, but he could see that I was unhappy there. So her four children started to bully me and attacked me in the house. They had a dog that use to nip me, and they would all just laugh. I started to hear her mother say to her, "Why don't you just dump him somewhere." So after a year of mental tourment at the hands of everyone in that house, she finally decided to take her mothers advice and dump me on the street I was only 6 years. So Social services placed me with a foster family but after a year the moved me to a children's home. That was a blow to me because I became part of a loving family. When I was 8 years old they moved me to another children's gome where I stayed for 8 years. I left the children's home when I was 16, then they moved me to another children's home for a year, then when I was 17 they moved me to an half way house to get me use to an independant life. I left the care system as I went in feeling alone, worried, & affraid. Of course i have not put every awful experience in this post. Thank You..........................

This is so very sad and heartbreaking, and I think myself lucky when I was in a children's home in 1968, moorfieid house, moorside road, Swinton, greater manchester. The staff were nice to us and we went for walks in the summer, the cook came in everyday and cooked lovely meals. She was a lovely caring women and interacted with us. Probably because we had parents and family alive nothing horrendous happened to any of us in the home. Somebody should have provided a loud hailer or mobile microphone and speaker so the visitors and us watching could have heard clearly what that poor man was saying. I never knew this happened in scotland until I watched the video I was very angry and shocked. Are we to believe the rich who used their own money to run this place didn't know what was happening to these helpless innocent children? These children are now flying high in heaven with the angels, and free from all earthly pain and suffering, rip little darlings.

In this Stone Age there should be web cams in all children’s homes with outside independent monitors to check the children are safe and well looked after. This should also be the case for all young kinds in prison, the disabled, the elderly in homes any vulnerable adults !! Web cams are cheap and we may have to spend money on having someone review the footage but not as much money we spend trying to fix the young lives ruined in care with ongoing prison stays, drug addiction, homelessness etc x

My dads cousin died in a home in Scotland and I am sure it’s this one and he was only 4 years old, supposedly a nun was seen kicking him in the head by other kids and he was buried in a “poppers grave” a mass grave this reached the news in Scotland last year, sad thing is he’s not the only one!!! I just Googled The Beast of the Bell Tower. John Porteous now aged 87 years old was sentenced 8 years in prison for this’ but was let out after three. He never apologised to any of his victims.

Hello, it is so hard to listen that I stopped for a moment, I breathe and continued. Your work is inimaginely hard to do, hearing all these survivors stories, imagine the inhuman pain of these children. And it continues here in France, they are mutilating horses (eyes, genitals), throwing acids on dogs, probably to exercice their hate and cruelty ? ♥️ From France

So disgusting, it's evil enough to abuse the kids but to then starve them as well just makes me more sick. So sorry for the awful things that happened to you Sandy and all the other innocent children. Sending all the love and hugs xxx
