This is a unique LL tower, one of the cooler ones. Its actually in pretty good condition, probably has a couple GE gensets inside the building. cool video.

The canopy has been removed about two years ago. You can see it from the road to Martinsville ,Tower road.

This looks like the Martinsville site, according to AT&T there was a concrete tower here years ago that was built in the summer of 1948.

Yes I believe that's correct. I forget when it was torn down and replaced with this one

@@soccerodc I just noticed when the drone first goes up you can see the old round base where the cement tower stood, it is right near the bottom of the steel tower. I hit the like button on your video by the way.

Grew up by this one and seeing it ontop of the hills, was an awesome feature. I remember it didnt always have the ball/sphere thing on top. Do you know what the ball is for anyways?

Is this systems still used as of 2021 for backhaul or completely shut down? Always been fascinated with sites like these.

I think the whole system is completely shut down. But they could use the facilities for fiber backhaul and sometimes they are used for cellular.
