This should be two videos. One on working with the camera; and the other working on the computer. In addition, in the camera part, you should show how to set the camera recording level using the tone from the Mixpre, how to input the audio from the camera (to hear if its okay), and how make the time code by outputting from the camera.

Pro Sound Mixer here: Once tone is sent to camera, check and set camera audio levels -20 db matching tone from mixer. Keep camera audio there. Check camera return ( on your mixer) so you can monitor what camera is "hearing". Use mixer to monitor all audio.

Love how the camera wobbles with a slight touch of the screen!

Thx Ian for the great video. I'm having trouble setting up my mixpre when used as an audio device with my computer for live streaming/video conferencing where I need to hear the USB audio coming out of my PC but also my mic 1 channel. It seems I can listen in my Headphones to either the mic channels or usb channels but not both at the same time

I know it’s really crazy, that they didn’t include the possibility of monitoring everything, ... also for multitracking/overdubbing it becomes a hassle ... as when you are obliged to return usb 1,2 computer audio into the mix pre :/ to be able to monitor dsp/what you already recorded & an input channel or what you want to overdub ... of course you create feedback loop, ..& when recording you record and yr input & what is already recorded as you route it back to the mix pre :-/ . as one ☝️ knows, software monitoring < hardware monitoring, but there is no way to hear and yr source and computer audio simultaneously :-/ what were they thinking ?

Ironic that your voice on this Recording is slight digital distortion from time to time in this Video ... was ist recorded with the MixPre?

Hi Ian, nice video you did there! I was hoping you could answer me a question: Have you ever experienced problems with signal loss/interference, with the outputs being unbalanced, when recording directly into the camera in an ENG setting? I'm putting together a similar sound bag around a, yet to purchase, Mixpre 6 II and am wondering, if I need to reserve room for a DI box, which would also add a considerable amount of weight to the sound bag. Your input would be very appreciated! Thx a lot!

Hello... How to configure the mix-pre to save the files separately to the SD?

Great explanation. Thank you so much. One question: Why can I choose USB 1 and USB 2 and also aux 1 and 2? There is only one input possible.

Here's a response from Megan, one of our tech specialists: All the MixPre Series can take in multiple inputs. Then the "mix down" track is what is sent to your camera to be used as reference.

@@shiwomino5775 Here is a reply from Ian: You have choices of USB and AUX because you can process different types of signals. For instance USB can be used to import timecode. I wanted to demo the recording from a computer as just one unique function. The manual will give you a shopping list of signal import functions and the related connection.

Can this work with Pro tools? can you record from this and see the waveforms being recorded into PT software mixer?
@AbelCine_official6 жыл бұрын
Here is a response from Corey, one of our tech specialists: Yes! The MixPre series will work as an audio interface with Pro Tools as well as many other DAWs. You will see both the meters moving as well as the waveform generating during recording.

Not really, It works only with software monitoring on which is not what you want to have since inevitably you’ll have latency ... since they have not included an option of independent automatic computer return not messing or sending back to yr input channel, ... therefore when wanting to hardware monitor, you have to manually bring the computer audio into the mix pre, which would create a feedback loop ... & would simply cause to overdub everything ( loop ) instead if the singular input track ... so if you want latency free hardware monitoring , this ain’t possible ...
