I lost my metal virginity to this song. I was a lost kid in 3rd grade and I didn't know what kind of music I really liked. My friend showed me this song off Gardens of Grief, and when those blasts came in at 1:41 my head exploded. It was then that I knew I would be a metalhead for life.

This is just harrowing. Tomas' voice just slays compared to the time when he was a youngster and recorded this. This has always been a fucking mean song, but in 2008 it sounded like the meanest shit ever conceived.

@EnorusLoL they split up in 1996. I don't know why. Maybe they thought that they could'nt do an album after Slaughter Of The Soul....'cause SOTS is an epic album...or maybe they lost interest.... This was the last time they played....(2008) it sucks imo

@Tremuoso his voice sounds so...monotone (?) nowadays, his voice was more variated back in the 90's imo, his vocal range was different and more...emotional... His voice on the Nightrage albums sounds the same in most of the songs there...the same screaming/growling techniques....imo or maybe I'm deaf or stupid? ;P
@Lindormber15 жыл бұрын
"they don't want to ruin their epic legacy" som det står överallt :P Det blir nog ganska svårt för dom att göra ett nytt album...med tanke på att Slaughter Of The Soul är ett jävligt grymt coolt album ^^ Så att göra ett nytt "bättre" album blir nog svårt. Dom vill väl inte göra nåt nytt som blir skit....

@Tremuoso I have to respectfully disagree with you, depending on your preference here. I think for the average guy who likes his metal like he likes his rock 'n' roll, with each rhythmic emphasis being precise and crisply played, and with a very glossy presentation so that the aesthetic is crystal clear, even if some of the manners in which texture and timbre can add to anticipation are sacrificed, this is great! But to those who like more subtlety, not so much.

@BaraPontus2LOL Gotta respectfully disagree with you on that one, Tompa has always been one of my favourite metal vocalists anyway, but his voice now in his new band Disfear sounds even more evil than it ever has. Back in the days of Gardens of Grief he was still learning his craft.

@i5Alex actually I think so too (that they don't wanna end up like IF and ruin their "epic legacy" they've left behind... didn't Dissection ruin everything with Reinkaos? :P oh, and about the 2012 and the apocalypse-armageddon-thingy: I've been daydreaming about "the end" at 2012 and that all epic death/black metal bands joined together to one last big fucking epic gig where all metal heads headbang to all of their favourite bands....Like....making that Woodstock consert look like nothing....
@neuraxianfusion14 жыл бұрын
@big10190 Maybe when they played it live back in the day. Now it sort of sounds normalized to every other rock 'n'... oops, I mean "metal" band that is out there. Typewriter drums? Check. Vocals with no variance in the individual texture of each syllable, but just a straight bark that's only function is to let you know "THIS SONG HAS HARSH VOCALS SO ITS EXTREME!"? Check. Useless flourishes added to the end of solos that were supposed to enhance structural narrative? Check.
