Hi MI Banerj, My name is Camila and I am from the South American news agency LANA. We are doing a report about Egypt having the "first green museum in Africa and Middle East" and we wanted to ask you if we can use a few seconds of your video to illustrate the news (of course with the correct credit/source to MY Banerj as appropriate). Thanks and great video!

what cam you say about the museum ?

I find the architecture a bit weird. Ancient Egyptian architecture is better😉 Although I cannot lie, if I was there I would probably be impressed by these huge spaces and all that. Thanks for giving this insight! First time I see the finished museum from inside

4:15 That is Akhenaten, right? Interesting that they chose to put the lights on the face in a way that you dont notice how huge the chin is right off the bat. Dude was notoriously strange looking.

Great that Egypt can build such a nice museum, but then they let tourists get scammed and ripped off like crazy. Bribery and corruption is crazy out there. You can agree to take a camel ride with a local tour guide and they will refuse to let you off unless you pay them up to 10x more than the agree upon amount. If you refuse the extra, they drop you off way early and make you walk. Boat drivers will change rates upon arrival, and work with the taxi drivers to get the money one way or the other. I saw one video where the boat driver called the taxi driver while the guy was in it, the taxi driver started telling the guy that he owed the boat driver more money. Another one was a whole production crew was filming a documentary, had press credentials and government approval but their video equipment was taken upon arrival in the country and held for the duration of the visit. The whole team had to use iphones to film and at the end, they had to go from place to place, bribing everyone that they came into contact with to get their stuff back. It cost them over $10k to get their stuff back. I am grateful for this video because I cant afford to go to Egypt. I have sources for what I just described, but it would seem a hostile place for tourists.

Fortunately, my experience there, in 1994, was far better -- even though I also had some bad experiences like you mentioned (no so bad as yours).
@mo_anwarАй бұрын
I am very sorry for you and your bad experience, but the situation is now somewhat different and there has been an improvement in dealing with tourists

Looks as expected all style over substance. Egypt has never been able to show its history at its best. It’s either neglected and dusty in the Cairo Miseum or ‘new airport’ like this new place. Are you hassled for money inside?

Amzing that all of this magnificent pieces are pre-Islamic when Egypt was Coptic, without any Arabs--spoke Coptic, practiced the ancient religions and then Christianity, with no Arab or Islam in sight!! So, Arabian part of the Egypt history for the past many centuries don't count and is not museum worthy?
@chaimadebbabi78492 ай бұрын
The country is still arab like it or not, don't get me wrong I understand your jealousy and envy, egypt is a place of wonder and I would hate and envy you too if you have it and I didn't. 😂
@TWOCOWS12 ай бұрын
@@chaimadebbabi7849 If it is Arab, then none of these ancient monuments belong to the Arab people of Egypt, who showed up there from Arabia after Islam. So, which one is it? You like to eat your cake and have it to? It does not work that way. Do these belong to the Egyptians --Coptics who even gave their name to Ecopt/Egypt, or do they belong to Arabs who came from Arabia with Islam?
@mo_anwarАй бұрын
In fact, the Copts and the Coptic race still exist in Egypt, and Islam is a blessing and a very good thing for us. Most of the Egyptian people are Coptic, not Arab, but our language has become Arabic.
@TWOCOWS1Ай бұрын
@@mo_anwar So then, are all these a heritage of the Arabs or the Copts? The "blessing" of Islam or the heritage of ancient Egyptian religion and Christianity?
@mo_anwarАй бұрын
@@TWOCOWS1This is the heritage of the Copts, of course, and I do not know why you link Christianity with the Coptic race. Religion has nothing to do with race. Most Copts now are Muslims. The problem is the imposition of Arab identity, and now Egypt has become under the name of an Arab country, but in reality it is not so. We Egyptians do not have any problem with Islam. On the contrary, most of us embraced the Islamic religion willingly and without any coercion, as evidenced by the fact that there are many Egyptian Christians who did not embrace the Islamic religion and are now living in peace in Egypt.

Thanks for the first impression. Just horrible light system. Echnaton looks like he has a black beard. And the idea to put objects on a staircase reminds me more to a big shopping mall. I guess the focus was on an impressive building and not on impressive museum. The tombs of Seti I, Nefertari and Ramses V/VI got very good light system, but the GEM looks already now like 20years behind. Lets see when it will be completly opened.
@Byronic191343 ай бұрын
I think the museum felt refreshingly new and gorgeous although your shopping mall critique I think comes from it does feel sterile. I dunno what to think of statues being on steps honestly but now that you mention it, yes it is an odd choice. And the lighting yes, while I love wide open spaces like this, I dunno how you could possibly light things properly when the roof is 200 feet above the displays.
